Happy Left Handers Day!

Lefties, we see you, and today is all about celebrating what makes you unique—and pretty awesome! From navigating the workday to taking notes without smudging the ink, our lefties prove that sometimes the right way to do things… is actually the left way.

Help us give a big shoutout to the awesome left-handed crew on our team: Amy, Billy, Liane, Shawna & Tania!

We’re so lucky to have these five on our team, and even luckier to care for so many wonderful lefties in our community. Drop us a note in the comments if you’re a lefty too!

Teachers, your voice works overtime. Make sure you're taking of it!

A few simple habits can help keep your voice healthy all school year:
- Stay hydrated
- Avoid shouting over classroom noise
- Speak softly instead of whispering
- Give your voice time to rest

If hoarseness lasts more than 2-4 weeks, don't ignore it. Call us at 239.514.2225, and let us identify the cause and get you back to teaching with confidence.

Back-to-school season brings fresh notebooks, new routines, and—for many students—a fresh wave of pollen, ragweed and dust mites. While over-the-counter or prescribed allergy medications are often part of a family's daily plan, simple environment and habit changes at home can make a massive difference in keeping symptoms under control so kids can focus in class.

Feeling more sinus pressure before or after a summer storm? You're not imagining it.

Southwest Florida's afternoon thunderstorms don't just bring rain—they can also bring sudden changes in barometric pressure. For many people, those pressure changes can lead to:
- Sinus pressure or pain
- Headaches
- Nasal congestion
- Facial discomfort

If your sinuses seem to "predict the weather," it may be a sign that inflammation or an underlying sinus condition is making you more sensitive to pressure changes.

The good news? You don't have to wait for the forecast to feel better. At Florida Gulf Coast ENT & Allergy, we can help identify the cause of your symptoms and create a treatment plan that helps you breathe easier—rain or shine. 🌧 ☀

Call 239.514.2225 to schedule an appointment with one of our ENT specialists and take the pressure off your sinuses.

That "plugged" feeling after a flight is common—it happens when the pressure in your middle ear hasn't caught up with the pressure around you. So, before you reach for a cotton swab (please don't), try these safe ways to help your ears equalize:

- Swallow, yawn or chew gum
- Sip water during descent
- Try the gentle Valsalva maneuver (pinch your nose, close your mouth and gently blow - never force it)
- Stay hydrated before and during your flight

Important: Avoid putting anything inside your ear canal—cotton swabs can push wax deeper and irritate your ears.

If ear pressure, pain, muffled hearing or fullness sticks around after your trip, call our team of ENT specialists at 239.514.2225 to make an appointment post-travel.

And while you’re back home, be sure to bring your travel photos with you—we love hearing about your adventures and the places your journey takes you!
