ARHI Investigator Dr. Leonard Lado Publishes Innovative Framework for the Prevention of Neurodegenerative Disorders
Naples, Florida — Advanced Research for Health Improvement (ARHI) is proud to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed scientific article authored by Dr. Leonard A. Lado, Principal Investigator at ARHI and Founder of Lado Healing Institute, in the prestigious journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.
The article, titled "The Interplay of Homeostasis, Inflammation, and Oxidative Stress in Neurodegenerative Disorders: The Role of Biological Markers, Antioxidants, Lithium, and TMS — A Proposed Framework for Preventing Neurodegenerative Disorders Through Biomarkers and Multimodal Therapies," presents a comprehensive hypothesis that challenges traditional views of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders.
In the publication, Dr. Lado and co-author Dr. Aruna Misir propose that neurodegenerative diseases may not simply be inevitable consequences of aging. Instead, they suggest that disruptions in biological homeostasis, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and deficiencies in critical neuroprotective mechanisms may contribute to disease development long before clinical symptoms appear.
The framework highlights the potential role of emerging biomarkers for identifying at-risk individuals earlier in the disease process and discusses how multimodal approaches—including targeted antioxidant strategies, physiological lithium supplementation, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)—could eventually become part of preventive and disease-modifying strategies. The article also reviews evidence supporting the importance of inflammation and oxidative stress as potentially modifiable contributors to neurodegeneration.
Importantly, the paper emphasizes the need for prospective clinical research to validate these concepts and determine whether early intervention guided by biological markers can alter the trajectory of neurodegenerative disease. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management, the proposed model encourages a shift toward prevention, early detection, and restoration of biological balance.
"Advances in neuroscience increasingly point toward the importance of understanding the biological mechanisms that precede clinical disease," said Dr. Lado. "Our goal is to encourage further research into identifying those mechanisms and exploring strategies that may help preserve brain health before irreversible damage occurs."
Dr. Lado has more than three decades of experience in psychiatry, neuroscience, addiction medicine, and clinical research. As a board-certified psychiatrist, researcher, and founder of Lado Healing Institute, he has dedicated his career to advancing innovative approaches to neurological and psychiatric disorders while actively participating in clinical research and scientific publication.
This publication reflects ARHI's commitment to supporting investigator-led research and advancing scientific discovery through collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based medicine. By fostering research that explores new approaches to prevention and treatment, ARHI continues its mission of improving health outcomes and helping shape the future of healthcare.
