On Global Handwashing Day, we're highlighting a simple but powerful way to help protect one another: proper hand hygiene!

At Florida Gulf Coast ENT & Allergy and Florida Gulf Coast Hearing Center, the safety of our patients and the health of our team are always a priority. From consistent handwashing to following established infection prevention protocols, we take important steps every day to help create a safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

👉 Your turn! Make handwashing a healthy habit, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and try to avoid touching your eyes, nose and ears with unwashed hands. These small everyday habits can make a big difference in helping protect yourself and those around you!

Think all hearing aids are basically the same? That’s one myth worth clearing up.

All October long, we’re spending each Friday debunking a common hearing aid myth—because some things may be scary, but your hearing decisions shouldn’t be.

MYTH: Hearing aids are all basically the same.

FACT: Not even close! Hearing aids can differ significantly in their technology, sound processing, features, connectivity, comfort and ability to handle different listening environments. The right fit depends on more than just turning up the volume—it’s about finding technology that fits you and the way you live.

Don’t let the wrong hearing aid become the real-life fright of your day.

Have questions about which hearing aid options may be right for you? Our team is here to help. Call us at 239.514.2419.

Thank you, Dr. Hill and Dr. Bader, for all you do to help our patients hear—and live—better! We’re so grateful to have you on our team.

🔊 Loud noise exposure—Concerts, machinery and fi****ms can damage delicate inner-ear hair cells.

👂 Age-related hearing loss—Changes in the inner ear as we age can contribute to both hearing loss and tinnitus.

💊 Certain medications—Some antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs and high doses of aspirin may affect the inner ear and trigger tinnitus.

Hearing something that isn’t there? Let’s talk. Why? Because understanding the potential cause is an important step toward managing tinnitus.

Spooky season is here, and each Friday, we're getting to the bottom of a common hearing aid myth—because some things may be scary, but your hearing decisions shouldn’t be.

MYTH: Hearing aids make everything loud.

FACT: Not necessarily! Modern hearing aids are designed to do much more than simply turn up the volume. They can help amplify the sounds you need to hear while managing background noise and making speech easier to follow.

So, if you've been putting off hearing aids because you're worried everything will suddenly sound too loud, it may be time to rethink that myth.

Give our team at Florida Gulf Coast Hearing Center a call at 239.514.2419 to learn more about your options. Why? Because when it comes to your hearing, there's no need to be spooked by myths.

A proposed Medicare policy change could make it harder for patients to receive needed ear, nose and throat care in a timely and efficient way.
Beginning in 2027, Medicare could pay less when a physician provides more than one medically necessary service during the same visit. This could mean more visits, longer appointment waits, fewer physicians accepting Medicare and fewer choices for patients.

If you're a Medicare patient or caregiver, now is the time to learn more and make your voice heard.

📞 Call Congress: 202.224.3121

You can also visit ENTsCareForMedicare.org to learn more about the proposed change and how to submit a comment to CMS.

There are some things our audiologists hear all the time. And no, we're not talking about the sounds of the office. We're talking about the things patients say when they're starting to notice changes in their hearing.

Swipe through the carousel to see a few of the phrases our audiologists know very well. You might recognize a few of them yourself! Sometimes they're funny. Sometimes they're relatable. And sometimes, they're a good reminder that it may be time for a hearing check.
