Today, on National Non-Profit Day, we celebrate the incredible community we serve and the heart behind the CCFA.

Founded in 1984, The CCFA began humbly as a local grassroots initiative in Henry County, born out of an urgent community need to address and prevent child sexual abuse. Sparked by a dedicated task force of local advocates, legal professionals and community leaders, including monumental figures like Judge Denise McColley and prosecutor Jay Hanna, the group recognized that existing institutional systems needed specialized partners to support child trauma survivors and families in crisis.

We owe our strong foundation to our pioneering leadership, including Lois Hanna as our first Executive Director and Carol Beck as our first Financial Director. Over the decades, we have been lucky enough to have other amazing Executive Directors steer our mission forward including Suzanne Lenhart, Cheryl Robbins-Devrow, Beth Gerken and Roberta Mack.

What started as a localized task force gradually evolved and expanded its footprint across Northwest Ohio. Over the decades, we grew from the initial prevention-focused roots into a comprehensive, multi-county mental health and advocacy agency.

Today, we are proud to provide a safe haven through the House of Ruth, incredible victim advocacy, our Children's Advocacy Center, SART Clinic services, and comprehensive clinical care. None of this life changing work would be possible without the compassion and support of our community.

As we look back down memory lane, none of this life changing work would be possibly without the compassion and support of You. If you would like to help us continue this vital mission for years to come, please consider making a donation today at www.givebutter.com/ccfa 💜

It's back to school time! We are all excited to snap that adorable "First Day" photo and share our pride with family and friends. But before you post that photo, we want to share a quick, crucial reminder about internet safety. In the digital age, we have to be mindful of what we are posting for others to see. Innocent-looking details like a child's full name, school name, teacher's name or specific locations can accidently provide sensitive and dangerous information to the public. To keep your kids and those memories safe, it is best to stick to sharing general details, while censoring or omitting sensitive details. So snap the photo, take in the moment, and enjoy, but be mindful!

August is Overdose Awareness Month, and as the image reminds us, overdose does not discriminate. It impacts families and communities across all walks of life. This month, we remember those we've lost, support those in recovery, and work together to break the stigma. 💜
