During Environmental Services Week, Heritage House would also like to highlight our Maintenance Supervisor, Scott Allen!

Scott joined our team in May 2026 and spent his very first day fixing a water leak in our employee entrance area. He enjoys working with familiar faces and is still creating memories here at Heritage House, so he does not quite have a favorite memory just yet.

Scott is originally from North Carolina and enjoys sharing stories with our residents about growing up there and the interesting things he has experienced throughout his life. He also loves to fish, and if he is not busy working, you may find him out by the pond.

Thank you, Scott, for all the hard work you do to keep Heritage House up and running. We truly appreciate everything you do for our residents, families, and staff!

National Healthcare Environmental Services Week starts this week, and we want to highlight the wonderful ladies who help keep Heritage House spotless!

Maria Cremeans recently celebrated 20 years at Heritage House, while Shawna Yoder has been part of our team for 11 years. Both ladies not only keep our community clean through their housekeeping roles, but also serve as Personal Care Attendants.

When asked about their favorite part of working at Heritage House, both Maria and Shawna agreed that it’s the residents! They enjoy the fun stories, laughter, and special moments they share with the residents each day.

Thank you, Maria and Shawna, for your many years of dedication, hard work, and care. We are so grateful for everything you do for Heritage House and our residents!

Heritage House would like to wish Marjorie Weiss a very happy birthday today!

Marjorie was born in Bremen but moved to St. Joseph County when she was just three months old. She grew up on a farm with her two sisters, where they enjoyed participating in 4-H. They were excellent seamstresses and made many different clothing items together. Marjorie also participated in Dairy 4-H, where she made delicious custards and pies.

After graduating from Lakeville High School, Marjorie worked at a shirt factory for a year before marrying her husband and starting a family. She has five daughters, who followed in her footsteps and enjoyed dressmaking through 4-H.

Marjorie says, "I was a 4-H mom for a very long time and really enjoyed sharing what I loved with my girls."

She was a homemaker while also holding many different jobs throughout the years, including working at Pletchers for a time. Marjorie also enjoyed traveling to Florida for many years.

Heritage House is wishing Jo Clem a very Happy Birthday today!

Jo was born and raised in the Nappanee area with her two brothers and four sisters. She spent her early years living on a farm before moving to the city in sixth grade. Growing up, she enjoyed traveling with her family to Florida to visit her uncle.

After high school, Jo worked as a bookkeeper. At 24, she married her husband and they raised three children. After being a stay-at-home mom, Jo returned to work at the Northwood School District cafeteria. She started as a line cook, became manager after just one year, and stayed in that position for 20 years.

Jo has always loved bowling, playing in leagues with her friends and husband, and cheering on her favorite teams, including Purdue, the Chicago Cubs, and the Northwood Panthers.

Jo proudly calls herself the "self-proclaimed advertiser for Heritage House," sharing with anyone who will listen that it is a wonderful place to be, with kind and helpful staff.

Happy Birthday, Jo! We hope you have a wonderful day!

Summer is not quite over, but Heritage House is already gearing up for our fall Wii bowling season!

There is no need to carry a heavy bowling ball or grab an extra pair of bowling shoes. All we need is a TV, a remote control, and plenty of enthusiasm! Residents play at least one game each, whether they are standing or sitting comfortably in a chair. Of course, lots of laughter is required too!

A few ladies from Heritage House enjoyed a sweet treat while out shopping last week. They made a surprise stop at Burger King for some ice cream and were treated like royalty, crowns and all!

At Heritage House, we regularly schedule local outings such as shopping trips, ice cream visits, and other favorite Nappanee destinations. Our residents can enjoy getting out and about without having to worry about transportation.

Some outings are suggested by our residents, while others are beloved staples in the Nappanee community. There’s always something fun to look forward to!

Heritage House would like to congratulate our housekeeper, Maria Cremans, on celebrating 20 years of service with us!

Maria started as a Personal Care Attendant when our facility first opened and later transitioned into our housekeeping department. She is known for her kind heart, caring spirit, and the genuine compassion she shows to our residents and fellow staff members.

Thank you, Maria, for 20 years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to the residents of Heritage House. Your efforts help make Heritage House feel like home, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our team!

Heritage House would like to wish Judy Hochstedler a very Happy Birthday!

Judy grew up right here in Nappanee with her five brothers and four sisters, making ten children in all. The family lived on a farm they called “Just a Farm,” located right down the road from Heritage House. Judy spent much of her school years helping out on the farm and learning the value of hard work.

After graduating high school, Judy married her husband, and together they raised four daughters. The couple eventually purchased Judy’s childhood farm and lived there for 47 years.

Judy was a homemaker while her daughters were young. As they grew older, she decided to enter the workforce and began sewing draperies at Newmar. After retirement, Judy and her husband traveled throughout Europe, a trip she describes as “one of the highlights of my life.”

Today, Judy enjoys being around people, playing games, sewing, and spending time with others. Her warm personality and love of fellowship make her a wonderful part of the Heritage House community.

Celebrating Our Dedicated Team!!

This past Tuesday, Heritage House celebrated our employees who have been with the company for 5 years or longer. Our team enjoyed a delicious meal of steak or chicken, salad, baked potatoes, and homemade pies.

Together, these incredible employees represent more than 151 years of service with Heritage House and the Miller’s Corporation. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, compassion, and commitment they show our residents every day.
