We often get the question from families about how they can support a loved one with Alzheimer’s in hospice. And we understand. It can feel very heavy and uncertain.
Here’s the first thing to remember: It doesn’t have to be complicated and you don’t need to have all the right words. Often, the most meaningful thing you can offer is simply your presence. 💜
Hold their hand.
Sit quietly with them.
Play soft music they’ve always loved.
Read to them.
Reduce stimulation — lower the lighting and TV volume.
Speak gently and calmly.
Even if it doesn’t seem like it, people can still feel your love, reassurance, and connection.
