Incredible news! MyChart is now the leading national pathway for organ donor registration. πŸ’™πŸ’š
In the year since Donate Life America and Epic connected MyChart to the National Donate Life Registry, more than 250,000 people have used MyChart to sign up as organ donors, making it the nation’s leading organ donor registration pathway.
The MyChart organ donor registration feature allows patients to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors directly through the portal they already use to manage their care. More than 220 organizations representing 1,300 hospitals and 27,000 clinics have made the feature available to their patients, and even more organizations are implementing it.

Avery Monedero was a 21-year-old trans woman known for her compassionate heart and resilient spirit. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ’™πŸ’š

In November 2021, she became a donor hero, selflessly giving the gift of life to six individuals and improving countless others through organ, eye, and tissue donation.

After Avery's passing, her mother, Monica, discovered a profound bond with Chris, who received Avery's heart. That connection grew even deeper when Monica learned that Chris’ granddaughter is also trans.

"My hope is that Chris, carrying the heart of a trans person, will feel closer to her new granddaughter. It's just one of the many beautiful gifts Avery left behind." ~Monica Monedero, Avery's mother

Tiffany (pictured left) was diagnosed with a rare liver disease in high school that progressed in severity over the years until her medical team suggested that a living liver transplant was her best option.

Tiffany posted her story to social media and a family friend, Nora (pictured right), messaged saying she was interested in being evaluated as a living donor. Lo and behold, they were a match! In September of 2025, Tiffany and Nora had their surgeries. After facing minor complications, they are both doing well today! πŸ’™πŸ’š

"Here we are in 2026...I am able to see another birthday. I am forever grateful to my donor, my 'Organ Buddy.' We have gotten so close through this whole process. It seems were more like family. It has also made me look at life through a different lens. The transplant process puts into perspective what matters, what doesn't, what's in your control and what needs to be released." ~Tiffany, liver recipient

Donor Tribute: Cheryl Jeffers

"Momma left us in June 2025. She was a wonderful mom and nana, and we were very privileged to have her for the time we did. Having been a family on the receiving end of organ donation twice, I knew Momma would be more than willing to donate to help other people live. By doing so, she saved four other people. Mom, I miss you more than you could imagine and hate not having you here with us. We miss you daily."

"When I was about a year and a half old, I fell into my family's Christmas tree and one of the needles punctured my right eye, leaving a fragment. I had the needle surgically removed a few days later, but my eye did not heal the way they anticipated. My eye was inflamed and constantly infected, which majorly affected my vision β€” this lasted four years, and no one could seem to find a lasting treatment or solution for these chronic problems. My family and I travelled all over Minnesota seeking answers for my very unhealthy right eye that caused me so much pain in my early years of life.

Finally, Dr. Elizabeth Davis at Minnesota Eye Consultants made the decision to place me on the corneal transplant list in July of 2007. On October 23rd, 2007, at the age of six, I underwent a corneal transplant. My life has been changed forever since my transplant. Not only was my sight restored and I was able to enjoy a now pain-free childhood, but my transplant provided me with a lifelong dream and mission of becoming an eye doctor as an attempt to give back the greatest gift that was given to me.

Now, 18 years post-transplant, I am in my first year of optometry school, living out my dream – a dream that would never have been possible without my donor's generous gift of sight. I am grateful each and every day for my donor and the beauty of organ donation!" ~Kailee, cornea recipient
