Bill was a true entrepreneur with an extremely kind and generous spirit, ambitious mindset and adventurous nature.

He loved fishing, hiking, hunting, riding his Harley, boating and was always ready for any challenge thrown his way.

In April 2022, Bill became a donor hero after losing his life in a tragic accident, saving three lives with his gifts.

We were honored to welcome 40 healthcare team members from local hospitals across Chattanooga and the surrounding area for another installment of our Journey of a Donor seminar! 💙💚

During this training, our staff provided specialized knowledge and education to attendees about their role in the organ and tissue referral and donation process. By aligning our teams around these guidelines and processes, we can better honor the decisions of donor heroes and their families while helping make the gift of life possible for even more patients waiting for a lifesaving transplant.

A tremendous thank you to everyone who joined us! Through our combined collaboration and dedication, we continue to save the lives of countless Tennesseans each day.

"My daughter, Gabriela, made the decision to become an organ donor just 5 months before a car accident that took her life. She was such a selfless and loving human being.

She had the honor of saving 5 lives and giving two people the gift of sight. We decided to follow through with her wishes, as she dreamed of becoming a clinical oncologist in order to save lives. She was able to fulfill her dreams of saving lives through organ donation.

Noah was only four months old when he was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare liver disease that affects newborns.

His only hope? A liver transplant.

To the relief of Noah's family, a selfless donor hero gave their son his lifesaving transplant six months after his diagnosis.

Today, Noah continues to live life to the fullest, honoring his donor hero and the second chance he's been given.

“I was born with a rare genetic condition called Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome (HPS), a form of albinism that causes a bleeding disorder, legal blindness and in some cases, pulmonary fibrosis. 15 years ago, I developed pulmonary fibrosis, and over time, it slowly took away my ability to breathe, work, and live the life I loved.

Because of my platelet dysfunction and the many transfusions I received over the years, my body developed antibodies that made finding a compatible donor especially difficult. I had to wait for the perfect match. My lungs were deteriorating faster than anyone expected. The hope of receiving a transplant was slipping away, and my family and medical team had begun discussing hospice care. Then, when we were almost out of hope, a miracle happened: I received the call that a matching donor had been found. In what felt like the darkest moment of my life, my donor gave me the greatest gift imaginable – the gift of life.

There is not a single day that passes that I do not think about my donor and their family. I often reflect on the courage, generosity and selflessness it must have taken to make such a profound decision during a time of unimaginable loss. While the family was experiencing heartbreak, they chose to give others a chance to live. Because of my donor, I have been given more time with my husband, my children and the people I love the most. I can help care for my elderly mother, enjoy family gatherings, celebrate milestones and create memories I never thought I would have the opportunity to make. I have even been able to return to a job I love, and it brings meaning and purpose to my life.
