I’ve been feeling so emotional about this today. Sometimes it just hits you out of no where - you matter so deeply to your children. They adore you and love you in a way that’s so special and unique.

I’m so incredibly grateful for my children and my husband. They have shown me a love that I’ve never known.

As I mother, I’m so aware that the way that I love my kids sets the template for what they expect about love in all future relationships. Fathers of course matter here too. Sometimes that can feel like a lot of pressure, but it’s such an honor to love my children. I cannot imagine my life without them.

Mother Hunger is an epidemic in a low-nurture culture - one that does not support mothers and babies.

Sleep training is the result of a low nurture culture too.

I’m not really down to debate whether sleep training causes harm or not. I have personally experienced the negative impact of sleep training in my own life and have worked with countless clients who also have experienced negative results from sleep training.

What we are often told is safe and harmless can greatly impact some individuals. Our sensitive and strong-willed children are perhaps most at risk of being sleep trained and may experience negative side effects.

If you sleep trained, I just want to remind you that repair is incredibly healing. You don’t have to double down.

***My reminder, always - Mother Hunger can be the mother’s fault when it results in abuse, but often times Mother Hunger is a result of intergenerational trauma and a low nurture culture that doesn’t support mothers.

What if some cases of postpartum depression and anxiety are actually Mother Hunger in disguise?

What if treatment in these cases needs to look a lot different?

What if there needs to be room for grief, loss, longing, and heartache?

What if we gave these mamas extra support postpartum?

Because I know a pregnant mama with Mother Hunger is at higher risk of struggling postpartum - but it doesn’t have to be this way. We can put extra supports in place to help these mamas thrive with their babies. ❤️

If this resonates, comment HEAL and I’ll send my 10-week group container, Holding Her, While Holding Them straight to your inbox
