Happy National Hugging Day! 🤗 Hugging offers a surprising range of potential health benefits:
😌 Stress Reduction: Hugging releases oxytocin, often called the "cuddle hormone." Oxytocin helps lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.
😄 Mood Booster: Oxytocin also plays a key role in feelings of happiness, bonding, and trust. A good hug can significantly improve your mood.
🤕 Pain Relief: Studies have shown that hugging can help reduce pain perception.
❤️ Improved Cardiovascular Health: Hugging can lower blood pressure and heart rate by calming the nervous system.
💪 Strengthened Immune System: Some research suggests that hugging may boost the immune system by increasing levels of certain antibodies.

Don't forget to give your loved ones (and yourself!) a little extra love today.❤️

It's a common misconception that only sexually active women are at risk for cervical cancer. While HPV, the main cause of cervical cancer, is often transmitted sexually, anyone with a cervix can develop it. This includes those who have never had sexual in*******se, individuals who have undergone ge***al reconstructive surgery, and postmenopausal women.

It's important for everyone with a cervix to be aware of their risk and to discuss screening options with their healthcare provider.

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. Each year, there are more than 13,000 cases of cervical cancer in the United States. Yet we have all the tools we need to prevent cervical cancer today. Here are the National Cervical Cancer Coalition’s recommendations for prevention at every age:

➤ Ages 11-12: The recommended age for HPV vaccine is 11-12 for both girls and boys. However, vaccination can start as early as age 9. The vaccine is designed to prevent infection, so vaccination is recommended at a young age before kids are exposed to the virus.

➤ Age 21: Women should get their first Pap test at age 21. The Pap can find abnormal cell changes on the cervix. If changes are found, they can be treated before they turn into cancer.

➤ Age 30: Expanded options for cervical cancer screening including testing for the HPV virus.

➤ Age 65 and beyond: It is important to discuss with your doctor your personal risk factors for cervical cancer so that your care can be personalized.

Happy International Mind-Body Wellness Day! ✨ Did you know? ✨ Your gut health can actually impact your mood! 🤯 Here’s how:
🦠 Neurotransmitter Production: Gut bacteria play a crucial role in producing important neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and GABA, which are involved in regulating mood, sleep, and appetite.
🔥 Inflammation: An imbalance of gut bacteria can lead to chronic inflammation throughout the body, including in the brain. This inflammation has been linked to various mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.
🧠 The Vagus Nerve: The vagus nerve connects the gut to the brain. Gut bacteria can communicate with the brain through this nerve, influencing mood and behavior.

The gut-brain axis is a complex and fascinating two-way street. Taking care of your gut health through a healthy diet (including a diverse range of fruits, veggies, and whole grains), stress management techniques, and sufficient sleep can have a positive impact on your mental well-being.
