Dear clients, friends, and pet therapy community,

This is Claire Spencer, owner of Petworthy Therapy Dog Services, and I’d like to share some bittersweet news with you all.

After three wonderful years, we have made the decision to close the doors of Petworthy. I am beyond grateful for the incredible people I’ve met along the way and for every life we’ve been honored to touch through pet therapy across the greater Nashville area. This work has meant more to me than I can express, and that is thanks to each of you.

If you’re looking to continue your pet therapy journey, I’d encourage you to connect with these wonderful local organizations:

- Alliance of Therapy Dogs

And while this chapter is closing, it isn’t the end of Kiley and Lucy’s important pet therapy work! They’ll continue serving the nurses and staff at the hospital where I work, offering comfort and a moment of calm to our front-line caregivers. In the meantime, I’m stepping into a new nursing leadership role in the Emergency Department, a path I’m excited to pursue.

As I reflect on 2025 and look ahead to the rest of 2026, I’ve spent time thinking about how Petworthy began and where I want to focus in the coming year. My original passion as a Registered Nurse has always been one-on-one therapy visits—building deeper, ongoing relationships and witnessing the meaningful progress that comes from consistent, individualized pet therapy.

To ensure these clients receive the time and attention they deserve, and to preserve Kiley and Lucy’s energy for this work, I’ll be stepping back from the vast majority of large facility and nursing home visits. This shift will help create a healthier balance for the dogs, my role as an ER nurse, and my work as a small business owner. I’m excited for another year of meaningful pet therapy.
