Let me guess.. the newness of back-to-school is starting to wear off?

This is often when we start hearing from parents: “Her teacher says she can’t sit still.”
“He’s having huge reactions over little things.”
“She knows what she’s supposed to do.. so why isn’t she doing it?”
“He’s struggling with transitions more than everyone else.”

It’s easy to look at these things and see a behavior or discipline problem.

This month specifically, we want to challenge you to look at things a little bit differently. Because behavior doesn’t happen in isolation. Focus, emotions, impulse control, sensory processing, and adaptability all involve the brain and nervous system.

So instead of only asking, “How do we stop this behavior?” What if we also asked, “Why is my child’s brain responding this way?”

Behavior starts with the brain.🧠

Not every overwhelmed child looks overwhelmed.

Some become emotional.
Some become quiet.
Some become clingy.
Some become frustrated over the smallest things.
Some seem like they’re “not listening.”

As parents, it’s easy to assume these behaviors need to be corrected. But often, they’re telling us something important: your child’s nervous system may be overloaded.

Think about everything they’ve experienced over the past few weeks:
📚A new classroom
👩‍🏫 New teachers
👯‍♀️New friendships
⏰ Earlier mornings
📋 More expectations
🎒 Constant transitions

That’s a lot for a developing brain and body to process.

When we begin to see behavior as communication instead of defiance, it changes how we respond. We move from frustration to curiosity. From reacting to supporting.

We believe a healthy, adaptable nervous system helps children better handle the demands of everyday life. While every child is different, supporting nervous system function can play an important role in helping them navigate stress, transitions, and change.💙

Community has always been at the heart of what we do.

Yes, we’re passionate about caring for families and helping children thrive through neurologically focused chiropractic care- but we also believe that being part of a community means showing up for one another.

Whether it’s supporting local families, partnering with organizations that are making a difference, or collecting donations for our annual dog days of summer dog food drive, we’re grateful to be surrounded by people who care as much as we do.

To every family who has trusted us with you care…
To everyone who has brought in a bag of dog food…
To everyone who has shared our posts, referred a friend, or simply encouraged our team..

Thank you.

Crossroads Chiropractic is more than an office; it’s a community and we’re honored to be a small part of yours.💙

There was a time Annabelle’s mom wasn’t sure what the future was going to look like.

In this part of their story, she shares something that meant so much to their family- Annabelle was able to keep moving forward without needing the medications or therapy they thought might become part of her path.

And then she went to college.💙

That’s the part we love.

Not because college is the measure of success. Not because medication or therapy would have meant they failed. And not because every child or young adult will have the same experience with chiropractic care.

But because this mom got to watch her daughter grow, gain confidence and independence, and step into a chapter of life that at one point may have felt really far away.

We’re so thankful her family has allowed us to share pieces of their journey. Sometimes you have to hear the story from mom just to see how far someone has come.💙

🐶 There’s still time to make a difference!

Our dog days of summer dog food drive is wrapping up soon, and we’re so grateful for the generosity our community has shown so far. Every bag of food donated helps support Proverbs 12:10 animal rescue as they care for dogs waiting for their forever homes.❤️

Comment below and we can send our Amazon wishlist! You can also drop off dog food donation at the office through the end of this month.

Thank you for helping us fill bowls, wag tails, and support an incredible local rescue. We couldn’t do it without this amazing community.🐾💙

Does homework feel like the hardest part of your day?

If so, you’re not alone.

By the time your child sits down to complete homework, they’ve already spent six or seven hours paying attention, solving problems, following directions, managing emotions, and adapting to a busy classroom environment.

That’s a tremendous amount of work for a developing brain.

When they struggle to focus, become frustrated quickly, or end up in tears over an assignment they normally could handle, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re being lazy or unmotivated. It may simply mean their nervous system has reached its limit for the day.

Instead of jumping straight into homework, consider building in a short reset first:
💧 Drink some water
🍎 Have a healthy snack
🌳 Get outside for a few minutes
🏃‍♀️ Move their body
💙 Spend a little one on one time reconnecting

Sometimes those simple moments help a child regulate enough to tackle what’s next.

We believe children learn best when their nervous system is functioning well. Supporting regulation doesn’t eliminate every challenge, but it can help kids better adapt to the demands of school, learning, and everyday life.

If you’ve been feeling like you’re constantly trying to “figure out” your child… you’re not alone.

Parenting a child who struggles with sleep, focus, sensory challenges, anxiety, emotional regulation, or big behaviors can be overwhelming. It’s easy to feel like you’re always searching for the next answer.

We want you to know that you don’t have to navigate that journey by yourself.

Our goal isn’t just to provide chiropractic care; it’s to educate, encourage, and partner with families as they work toward helping their children thrive.

Some days will feel like big victories.
Some days will feel like you’re taking two steps back.

That’s okay.

Progress isn’t always linear, and every small step forward matters.🫶🏻

Walking into a new office can feel intimidating.

Especially when you’re searching for answers for your child.

We want you to know that from the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be met with compassion- not judgement.

Whether your child is struggling with sensory challenges, focus, sleep, emotional regulation, headaches, chronic ear infections, or you simply want to help them function at their very best, our goal is to listen first.

We take time to understand your concerns, evaluate how your child’s nervous system is functioning, and create a personalized plan based on their unique needs. No two children are the same, and we believe their care shouldn’t be either.

If you’ve been following along for a while but haven’t taken the first step yet, we’d love to meet you. Sometimes the hardest part is simply making that first phone call.💙

“We had 10 days of peace”

That’s how Finley’s mom described it.

After 10 YEARS of crying or tantrums every single day, their family experienced 10 days without them.

Ten days.

It might not sound like a long time to everyone. But when you’ve spent years walking on eggshells, trying to prevent the next meltdown, wondering what will set it off, and doing everything you can to help your child through it.. 10 days can feel huge.

And you can hear what those 10 days meant to Finley’s mom when she tells their story.

This is their family’s experience, and every child’s story and response to care is different. But we’re so grateful she was willing to share this part of theirs.

Because somewhere there may be another mom who has been living in survival mode for a very long time, and needs to hear that another family understands.💙

Back-to-school season brings more than just new backpacks and school supplies… it also brings new germs, routines, and new stress.

While exposure to viruses is part of school life, a child’s ability ti adapt to those challenges matters too.

That’s why we encourage families to think beyond hand sanitizer and vitamins. Prioritizing sleep, hydration, nutritious food, movement, and a healthy nervous system can all help support your child’s overall well-being.

Research has suggested that that chiropractic care may positively influence certain aspects of immune function and the body’s ability to adapt to stress, though the science is still evolving. One thing we do know is that a well functioning nervous system plays an important role in helping the body communicate and respond efficiently.

As kids head back to school, consistency matters. Keeping up with your child’s regular chiropractic adjustments is one way to support their nervous system during one of the busiest transitions of the year.🎒
