Should you fix your teeth - or replace them? ๐Ÿฆท

Itโ€™s one of the biggest questions we hear from new patients.

Sometimes teeth can be in really bad shape. Broken down, heavily restored, worn, or damaged. At that point, it can feel reasonable to ask:
Is it worth trying to save them?

The best dentistry isn't always about replacing everything with something new.
Sometimes, it's about preserving what nature gave you for as long as possible ๐Ÿ”ฅ

โ€œImplants canโ€™t get cavities, so I donโ€™t need to brush.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€
It sounds logical - but thereโ€™s an important distinction.

A dental implant itself cannot develop a traditional cavity like natural tooth enamel can. But the tissues surrounding the implant can still develop inflammation and infection, and the natural teeth around it are still vulnerable to decay, gum disease, wear and other problems.

Thatโ€™s why implant care doesnโ€™t end when treatment is finished.

Daily brushing, cleaning between the teeth and around the implant, professional hygiene visits, and regular dental exams all play a role in protecting your investment for the long term.

No cavity doesnโ€™t mean no maintenance.

A beautiful smile can still create a painful bite.
This is something every patient should consider when choosing a cosmetic dentist.
Cosmetic dentistry can change your bite.

Sometimes that change can be beneficial. Other times, if the bite isn't carefully considered, it can create problems that weren't there before.

We often see patients who come in with cosmetic dental work that looks absolutely beautiful...But they're now experiencing jaw pain, headaches, muscle tension, or a bite that simply doesn't feel right.

The cosmetic result may look great. But if the function has been compromised, the work may not be serving the patient in the long term.

That's why intention matters.
The goal should never be choosing between a beautiful smile and a comfortable, functional bite.

You deserve both. โœจ

Thereโ€™s nothing quite like hearing it directly from our patients. ๐Ÿค
Every review means so much to our team, but especially the ones that speak to how care has changed more than just a smile - how someone feels, functions, sleeps, or simply feels more confident in their everyday life.

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful to every patient who takes the time to share their experience with us. Trusting us with your care is something we never take for granted.

โ€œEverything is figureoutable.โ€

Itโ€™s something we believe deeply.
There may not always be an instant answer or a quick fix - but there is always a next step.

Your saliva might be doing more for your teeth than you realize.

We talk a lot about brushing and flossing - and they absolutely matter.
But there's another major player that works for you every single day...

Your saliva.

The quality and quantity of saliva you produce can have a huge impact on your oral health.

Saliva helps:
๐Ÿ’ง Maintain a healthy balance of bacteria in the mouth
๐Ÿฆท Wash away food particles and acids
โœจ Support your body's natural defenses
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Keep enamel strong and protected

When saliva production is reduced, your mouth can have a harder time maintaining that natural balance.

That's one reason dry mouth deserves attention - it's not simply uncomfortable. It can change the environment your teeth and gums rely on to stay healthy.

A straight smile can look beautiful - but true dental health is about so much more than what we see. ๐Ÿ’ญ

Teeth, jaws, muscles, joints, tongue and airway all play a role in how the mouth functions. So when we evaluate a smile, we want to understand more than just whether the teeth are aligned.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Can you chew comfortably?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Can your jaw move without discomfort?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Do your teeth come together in a stable way?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Are your muscles working comfortably?
๐Ÿ‘‰ Are there signs of clenching, grinding or excessive wear?

Beauty matters of course.. Function matters too.

The goal is to create a smile that not only looks beautiful, but is designed with comfort, balance and long-term function in mind.

Braces can create beautifully aligned teeth - but a beautiful smile is only one part of the picture.
The bigger question is why the teeth developed the way they did in the first place.

Crowding, a narrow arch, an altered bite or recurring symptoms can sometimes be clues that deserve a deeper evaluation. Looking at the teeth alone doesn't tell us everything about jaw development, tongue posture, muscle function, breathing or the airway.

That doesn't mean braces aren't valuable. They absolutely can be. It means the goal should be to understand the patient as a whole before deciding what tooth movement needs to happen.

Straight teeth are important. But how those teeth function within the rest of the system matters too. ๐Ÿ‘‰

Poor sleep isn't always just about how many hours you're in bed. ๐Ÿ’ค

For some patients, the conversation needs to go deeper - into how well you're breathing while you sleep and what may be affecting your airway.

An airway-focused dental evaluation looks beyond the teeth to consider the bigger picture, including the airway, jaw development, tongue posture, nasal breathing and surrounding oral structures. That doesn't mean every sleep issue is an airway issue. But if you're consistently waking unrefreshed, snoring, breathing through your mouth, or struggling with sleep quality, it's worth asking a different question:

How well am I actually breathing while I sleep?

Sometimes, understanding the why is the first step toward finding the right path forward.

The best dental care starts with someone who genuinely cares ๐Ÿ’ญ

One of the things we admire most about Dr. Currie is the way she shows up for every patient - with kindness, positivity, and genuine compassion.

For her, dentistry has never been just about treating teeth. Itโ€™s about making people feel heard, comfortable, and confident from the moment they walk through our doors.
