If you have a young child with ADHD, autism, or disabilities, then you know just how important routines and predictability can be for helping the day run a little smoother.

In music therapy, we often begin and end sessions with hello and goodbye songs when working with little kids.
They mark the start and end of session, create predictability (which helps build emotional safety), and make more room for connection. 🤜🤛

For many children, knowing what comes next helps the nervous system settle enough to engage, communicate, regulate, and play.

POV: Your neurodivergent kiddo’s communication starts taking off in music therapy. 👀🥳

Many kids with autism and other developmental differences are gestalt language processors (GLPs).
That means they often learn language in chunks (songs, scripts, and familiar phrases) rather than single words first.

Musical phrases like the ones Becca is modeling here give the brain something powerful:
predictable language patterns.

Over time, those patterns can become clearer, more independent communication.

That’s what you’re seeing in this video. Pretty amazing, right?
