TSPN is relaying this message from the Cocke County Cradle to Career Coalition in response to the recent flooding emergency in Cocke County.
The following telephone numbers have been established to receive specific information. The goal is to compartmentalize information, and citizen needs so each may be addressed by the correct department, agency, or support element as well as properly tracked to completion.
CITIZENS who have been displaced due to storm or flood damage to their primary residence should call: (423) 540-5551. The volunteer staffing this telephone will take your information and ensure that information is forwarded to the The Damage Assessment Coordinator so a team can come out and make their evaluation. You will also be directed to the shelter that has been established and staffed by the American Red Cross.
VENDORS who wish to provide prepared meals to flood victims or Emergency Responders should call (423) 540-5553. The volunteer staffing this telephone will collect information on the location of the meals, how many you are prepared to feed, and what will be offered. Please indicate if there will be any type of charge for these meals.
CITIZENS who wish to report damage to their homes, property, agriculture, businesses, or infrastructure (roads, power poles, bridges, etc.) who are NOT displaced or in need of shelter should call (423) 540-5554. The volunteer staffing this telephone will take your information and the location and type of damage. This information will be forwarded to the appropriate agency to be addressed.
Two separate teams will be going out today to assess damages. This is a continuation of the work they began yesterday afternoon and stopped at dusk due to impassable roads and hazardous driving conditions. One team will be assessing damages. The other will be evaluating those damages so an immediate adjustment can be made on the property cards that reflect the assessed taxable rate. These teams are traveling in a: Silver Toyota 4-Runner with GOV license plates. And a Green Jeep Renegade with a Cocke County Property Assessor Logo on the front doors. Once they depart Newport, I will post a message to the CCEMA page so residents can be close to their homes.
CITIZENS who are cut off from Emergency Responders or who are unable to get out of their properties for basic necessities should call (423) 540-5552. The volunteer staffing this telephone will dispatch the appropriate Volunteer Fire Department to get to you with whatever you may need. Please give your basic information and specific needs to the person taking your call.
GOOD SAMARITANS who are volunteering their time, equipment, or expertise in a particular area should call (423) 540-0171. The volunteer staffing this telephone will take your name and service you are able to provide.
This would include track hoes, skid steers, trucks for debris removal, tow trucks, roll backs, or other capable vehicles to retrieve citizens vehicles, chain saw operators for tree removal, etc. Please indicate if you are volunteering your time and resources or if you intend to present an invoice for services rendered. The citizens helping their neighbors will be dispatched to the citizens in need before those charging for services.
CITIZENS who require the above services will call the same number (423) 540-0171. The volunteer staffing this telephone will take your information and specific service need and assign a volunteer to help you.
DONATIONS and RESOURCES If you are a non-profit organization or private citizen wishing to make donations of necessities, clothing, or other needed items, you can call (423) 540-5550. The volunteer staffing the telephone will take your information, the location of your nonprofit or business as well as the items you have available.
CITIZENS in need of items will call the same number (423) 540-5550. The volunteer staffing this telephone will take your information and what you and your family are in need of. They will then tell you which location most closely fits your needs.
If you should experience an emergency, please call 911.
