Strong. Compassionate. Courageous. Always Caring Like Family. 💙

As we wrap up Emergency Services Week, we're celebrating the extraordinary colleagues who answer the call to care for our communities every single day!

From the Emergency Department in the Main Tower at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, the Pediatric ER at TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital and the OB/ER at TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital, to our dedicated ER teams in Ashland City, Bellevue and Spring Hill — we are proud to recognize every member of our emergency services family!

Morning, noon and night, these remarkable colleagues give their hearts and souls to caring for people when they need it most. They are strong in the face of adversity, calm in moments of crisis and compassionate through life's most difficult moments. They provide exceptional, patient-centered care while offering comfort, reassurance and hope to patients and families.

No matter the hour, no matter the challenge, they show up. They stand strong. They lead with compassion. And above all, they always Care Like Family.

To every one of our emergency services colleagues, THANK YOU for your strength, your selflessness and your unwavering commitment to our patients and communities. You are the heart of emergency care, and we are grateful for all you do!

During Emergency Services Week, we’re recognizing nurses like McCall, who bring specialized skill, compassion and reassurance to children and families in the pediatric emergency room at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital.

Children can’t always explain what hurts or what feels wrong. For McCall, that means taking time to get on their level, build trust and help them feel safe while also keeping parents informed and supported throughout their child’s care.

That family-centered approach is part of the specialized emergency care available at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital. Our pediatric emergency room is staffed 24/7 by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and supported by nurses and care teams experienced in caring for children.

As McCall puts it, caring for a child means “you really are caring for the whole family.”

This Emergency Nurses Week, we’re grateful for McCall and our emergency nurses who bring expertise and compassion to families when they need it most.

Our pediatric ER is open 24/7, so specialized emergency care for children is available whenever it’s needed

During Pediatric Nurses Week, we’re celebrating the expertise and compassion pediatric nurses bring to children and families when they need it most.

For Mclain, a pediatric emergency department nurse at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital, caring for children means helping make an unfamiliar or frightening experience feel a little more manageable. By explaining care in ways children can understand and giving them opportunities to have a sense of control, Mclain works to build trust with both children and their families.

That thoughtful approach is part of the specialized pediatric care available at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital, where our pediatric emergency room is open 24/7 and staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians.

“When you’re caring for children, you’re not only caring for a child, you’re caring for their family as well.”

This Pediatric Nurses Week, we’re grateful for pediatric nurses like Mclain who bring skill, reassurance and compassion to children and families during some of their most difficult moments.

“I wouldn’t be here without the folks at this ER."

When Thomas Covey began experiencing unusual chest tightness, he knew he shouldn’t ignore it. He thought of his neighbor, Emily Henry, a nurse at TriStar Lovers Lane ER.

There was a problem: Thomas didn’t know where the ER was, so he called his neighbor.

Hundreds of miles away at her bridal shower, Emily gave Thomas the address. That phone call launched Thomas's journey through three TriStar Health facilities, ultimately saving his life.

Thomas received emergency care at TriStar Lovers Lane ER before being transferred to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital for advanced cardiac care. When physicians determined he needed emergency heart surgery, his care team coordinated a transfer to TriStar Centennial Medical Center for a quadruple bypass surgery.

After recovering, Thomas returned to TriStar Lovers Lane ER with family and treats in hand to say thank you! ❤

In Thomas's time of need TriStar Health's connected system of care was ready and equipped to respond with lifesaving emergency care.

This weekend, colleagues from across TriStar Health came together to support heart health in the communities we’re proud to serve. ❤️

With participation from all of our Nashville-area TriStar Health facilities, our teams raised more than $110,000 for the American Heart Association — helping support its work to improve cardiovascular health and save lives.

A special shoutout to our colleagues at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, who brought the celebration home to Dickson by hosting their first Heart Walk at the hospital. We’re proud to see our colleagues showing up for healthier communities across Middle Tennessee.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated and supported this important cause!

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4dv7dUz.

"I am here because of what your team did."

In June, Pastor Michael Peasall arrived at the TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center emergency department experiencing a massive heart attack. His care team quickly recognized how serious his condition was and rushed him to the cardiac cath lab, where they discovered five blocked coronary arteries.

Every minute mattered. Michael received an emergency balloon angioplasty to restore blood flow and stabilize, giving him the time he needed to safely reach TriStar Centennial Medical Center for quintuple bypass surgery.

Two weeks later, Michael returned to TriStar Hendersonville to personally thank the cath lab team.

For Michael, having lifesaving heart care close to home made all the difference. At TriStar Health, we cover all aspects of heart health, and our connected network of care means a smooth transition between our facilities to get the care you need.

“Today are we lucky to be here because of the people who step up when we need them the most."

Nearly three months after a devastating taco truck explosion changed their lives, Tim and Tiffany McPherson returned to thank many of the people who helped care for them.

On June 4, the TNT Tacos owners were seriously injured when their food truck exploded. Both suffered severe burns and were airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where their recovery included surgery and specialized burn care.

Their reunion at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County brought together first responders, healthcare professionals and members of the teams involved in their care — an example of the collaboration that helps connect patients with the right care when every moment matters.

The gathering was especially meaningful as TriStar Skyline celebrates five years of specialized burn care. Supported by a state-designated Level I Trauma Center, the multidisciplinary burn program brings together specialists who support patients across Middle Tennessee through treatment and recovery.

For Tim and Tiffany, the day was an opportunity to reconnect with and thank many of the people who played a role in their journey. 💙

Did you know? Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that can cause severe pain and other serious health complications. For children and families living with the condition, access to specialized care and evolving treatment options can make a meaningful difference.

Rickey knows that journey firsthand. After living with sickle cell disease since infancy, he became the first patient at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital to receive CRISPR-based gene-editing therapy for the condition.

His care was led by Dr. Haydar Frangoul, a pediatric hematologist-oncologist whose work has helped advance gene-editing therapy for people with sickle cell disease. At TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital, specialized pediatric hematology and cellular therapy teams care for children with sickle cell disease and other complex blood disorders.

As our community comes together this Saturday for the Sickle Cell Warrior Walk & Run 5K, we’re raising awareness, celebrating individuals like Rickey and helping families learn more about available care and treatment options.

Mild nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may improve with rest and fluids. But some digestive symptoms — like signs of dehydration, blood in your stool, vomit, a high fever or severe stomach pain — shouldn’t be ignored.

Understanding the warning signs can help you know when symptoms may be managed at home and when to seek urgent or emergency care.
