It’s delivery day at A Step Ahead Kids! Four sweet little ones will be receiving their 3D printed cranial remolding orthoses to treat positional plagiocephaly and brachycephaly at our Athens, TN office.
Lightweight, breathable and easy for caregivers to don and doff, cranial remolding orthoses are a great way to improve cranial asymmetries. We look forward to watching their progress!

Patient tested, sibling approved! Miss Porter received her new pair of articulating AFOs at our Athens, TN office and both she and her brothers are all smiles! Porter has a smile that can light up any room and we are looking forward to seeing her shine! ✨

Like Emmett’s t-shirt says, he is really “Crushin’ it”!! We are so excited to fit and deliver his new Symes prosthesis! He took to his new prosthetic limb like a true champion and a monster truck design for his socket, even cooler!! Keep up the great work buddy, we are proud of YOU! 👏 🌟

It was truly an honor to welcome Congressman Dale Strong of Alabama's District 5 to A Step Ahead Kids this week. His visit meant a great deal to our team and, most importantly, to the children, Veterans, and families we serve every day.
He took the time to listen and learn about the world of prosthetics and orthotics. Not just the science behind it, but the life-changing impact it has in helping children gain confidence, independence, and the ability to simply be kids.
We also shared the very real and often overwhelming challenges families face when it comes to insurance coverage for prosthetic devices. These barriers don’t just affect access to care, they shape daily life for children, families, and veterans alike.
Moments like this matter. Being heard matters. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to share these stories, to shine a light on both the struggles and the strength of those we serve, and to continue advocating for better access to the care every child and family deserves.
