We tend to post a lot of cute and fun and happy moments. Veterinary medicine is rewarding in that way. But… with the good comes the heartbreak. Just today, in between scheduled appointments, work in urgent and emergency visits, emails, phone calls, and reporting back diagnostic results, Dr. K had to say goodbye to two different patients that had been with her for 10+ years.

Days like this aren’t limited to just Dr. K, we all become attached to our patients at PPAH and our hearts break for you everytime we help a patient cross the rainbow bridge. That said, please be patient if you’ve called or emailed with a non-emergent question or concern and haven’t heard back immediately. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can. We just may be tending to the most sacred act we do in our roles as care givers to our patients. ❤️

With the temperature and humidity high over the next week, this is the time when we tend to see heat stroke, burns, and even death due to extreme heat in dogs. Please keep your pets inside except for as much time it takes to potty. Avoid long walks, strenuous exercise, or unsupervised outside time. NEVER leave your dog in a car unattended.

Introducing Dr. Mary Chapman Miller on the Parker’s Paws team! Dr. Miller is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Vanderbilt University (Anchor Down!) for her undergraduate studies, earning degrees in Neuroscience and Biology in 2022. She then went on to attend the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated summa cm laude in 2026.
Dr. Miller’s professional interests include internal medicine, neurology, and preventative medicine. She is especially passionate about the human-animal bond, which first inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine. During her time at Vanderbilt, she helped implement therapy dogs into patient care at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, where she saw firsthand the comfort and healing animals can provide.
Dr. Miller deeply values the special connection between Parker’s Paws clients and their pets and is excited to provide compassionate, thorough care for both patients and the people who love them.
Outside of work, Dr. Miller enjoys long hikes and walks, going to just about any workout class, cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores at football games, and spending time with her Nashville friends and their animals. Paws Up, Dr. Miller!!!
