Hello! 👋 It is probably time that I reintroduce myself. I am not very active on social media because I am busy training vocalists in Nashville to optimize their pelvic floor and breath mechanics.
Didn’t know that was a job? It took me by surprise too – I do not remember that one from the career quizzes we all took in high school.
Story time about how I arrived here:
I am a lifelong athlete (gymnastics, track, speedskating, triathlon and roller derby). I have won a lot of races, nearly all of them with a lack of bladder control. After finally resolving my own pelvic floor dysfunction following my last pregnancy, I redirected my work as a personal trainer to focus on pre/postnatal and the pelvic floor.
Since I live and work in Music City USA, many of my postnatal clients are singers and professional voice users. It was not long before the voice-pelvic floor connection became apparent.
While working to help postpartum clients with prolapse, back pain, and core strength, they reported that their voices improved. This was not our imagination. There is a significant and growing body of research demonstrating the connection between the voice, the pelvic floor, posture and core control.
These days I combine principals from high-level athletics, sports psychology, biomechanics, breathwork, and strength training to equip my vocal athletes for the demands of being on tour. In training vocalists from a whole-body perspective, we are seeing better stamina, less strain, and overall improved vocal readiness and resilience.
Curious about any of this? Please reach out. I would love to chat with you.
