The Yoga Still from Krissie Bentley

The Yoga Still from Krissie Bentley Yoga is a tool to help us take care of our bodies. Not for an outcome or result. Not punishment. But taking care of ourselves. Let me show you. Props, props, props.

Let me tell you about how I feel about yoga. Yoga is a way to connect our thoughts and our bodies. I believe that our bodies are the key to so much wisdom in our lives. We just need to learn how to tune into them. Not by punishing ourselves. Yoga teaches us to take better care of ourselves because we respect and care for our bodies. And that carries outside of the studio as well. What is a yoga cl

ass with me like? I have a set of 10, so get to in-person classes early - first come, first propped. I want to keep you out of child's pose (unless I direct you there). I'll teach you to find a comfortable-enough version of the poses. You'll stay engaged in my class. That is my commitment to you. You won't realize how hard you are working most of the time. By finding comfortable-enough versions of poses, and holding them for a few breaths, you'll get the benefits of a good sweat without having to dry yourself off before you get in your car. What will you not find in my yoga classes? I will not ask you to stand on your head. Or your forearms. Or your shoulders. And if I ask you to do something that your body doesn't do on that day? We'll figure it out. My classes are expectation-free. Each day is different, each class is different. You bring different energy. You need something different. And you get to decide what that means. You do you - of that hour.

I’ve been reluctant to talk about Solstice 108 because I don’t know if *I* can do it. I mean, can my body really work up to 108 Sun Salutations in three months?

So I’m telling myself what I’d tell you.

You have a choice with EACH INDIVIDUAL SALUTATION. Am I sitting and visualizing this one? Am I flowing through a Half Salute (where my feet don’t move)? Am I using props? Is this one against the wall? Am I dropping gently to my knees? Am I doing a traditional Sun Salutation?

Every salutation is a choice. A choice to be curious. A choice to listen to your body. A choice to be honest. A choice to be kind. A choice to push through. A choice to show up. A choice to put in the time and the commitment.

The lessons are in the process. In the discipline. In the commitment to the practice. No matter what it looks like.

I’m choosing to show up for all of it. For the celebrations. For the disappointments. I’m showing up for myself and my practice.

Are you coming along with us? We start Monday.

This year has been exhausting. Although there is some light on the horizon, I’m getting tired of waiting for something external to make me feel better. I’m ready to take a little more control of my emotional and physical well-being.

Are you?

Showing up for yourself and maintaining a consistent physical discipline will empower you in all areas of your life.

Structured and gradual physical challenge reminds you that you have all you need to stand up and stand out in your life.

A physical practice will remind you of your presence, your voice, and your POWER.

Regular physical practice has been shown to help you manage your emotions, improve your thinking, and sleep better at night.

You will show yourself that you can do things that you didn’t think possible. And then you can apply that belief in yourself to all pieces of your life.

Join us for Solstice 108.

We will begin on the Winter Solstice with one sun salutation. That’s all. It will take 2-3 minutes. And we will end on the Spring Equinox with one hundred and eight sun salutations. That will take a while, but you’ll be ready.

I will guide you every step of the way.

Link is in my profile. And I’m here to answer any questions.

My daily journaling and planning practices are true non-negotiables for me.

It has taken years of trial and error to figure out a manageable system that works for me. (And it doesn’t hurt that this has basically just filled in the time I used to spend driving to work.)

I will be sharing my journaling time with members of The Still this month. We’ll gather M-F on Zoom (I’m sending the link later today, friends!) with my writing playlist going. And we’ll write. I’ll be there from 6am - 6:45 eastern if you can drop in love. But if not, you’ll get the video as soon as it uploads.

But this is just icing on the cake. The Crown Chakra Study drops Tuesday. Yoga, breath, tapping, and meditation practices to deepen your connection with yourself and Source/God/Universe. A mini-lecture and journal prompts to go even deeper. Plus a library with 50+ practices on prior themes.

Registration is open through December 5th. Join for $54/month - no commitment.

You take care of so many people and things. Patients. Clients. Kids. Pets. Laundry. Dinner.

But who is taking care of you?

Join us this Sunday from 3-5pm Eastern on Zoom for a mini-retreat full of self-soothing practices. I’ll lead us through a gentle seated yoga practice, a Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help series, a guided body-connecting meditation, distance Reiki, and we’ll end with a tapping practice full of affirmations.

It would be fantastic if you could come live and feel our collective energy, but everyone will get the recording, so it isn’t a big deal if you can’t make it on Sunday.

Suggested investment is $40, but whatever exchange is best for you - less or more - is absolutely perfect. I have two gifted spots for the first two to ask for them as well.

If you want the registration link, leave me a comment and I’ll send it to you in DMs.

TLDR: New Moon Reiki Circle 8pm Eastern on Sunday. Zoom. $20. Link below. Led by me, not Mersch.

Sometimes everything feels manageable. And sometimes it just doesn’t. I want to cuddle on a couch (at West Main) with my friends. I want to hold my new niece. I want to cheer on my friends as they dance or play music. I want to walk around a yoga class, hearing my own voice. I want to sit in a restaurant or try on dresses at Target or walk around Asheville. I want to practice therapy or Reiki or Jin Shin Jyutsu in person.

But I don’t.

I’m sure you can relate. I’m sure you have a list of things want do. People you want to see. Places you want to go.

I can’t fix that for us. I sure wish I could. But what I can do is offer you healing in the best way I know how. Sunday at 8pm eastern I’m offering a New Moon Reiki Circle. On Zoom. About an hour. You can come live or watch the recording. Whatever works beat for you.

What is Reiki? It is like a massage for your soul. A hug with energy and words. A time where I help you center and release and connect to yourself. I’ll lead us through a guided meditation, send some Reiki, and draw a card for each of us.

I would love to see you there. $20 for a single circle. $30 to join us twice a month. And if that doesn’t work for you, reach out and I’ll send you the link - no questions asked.

The link is in my profile (click WORK WITH ME) or leave me comment and I’ll message it to you.

And, don’t worry, Herschel won’t be leading this one.

I went to the doctor today. No worries, just to get established with someone new after my doctor relocated.

To keep things simple, I didn’t carry my purse. My pockets held my keys, my phone, a variety of cards, and this piece of lepidolite.

And I jumped right up on the scale with all of it. I had a moment where I thought about emptying my pockets. But I’m not getting on an airplane. I’m getting on a scale.

So full pockets (and SHOES!) and all, I hopped right up on that scale. Got my flu shot. Got my prescriptions and went on my merry way.

I don’t even know what it said.

I had a big meeting today.

Five minutes before I got on the call, I practiced some Tapping and some positive reminder statements.

What is meant for me will not pass me by.

This feels fluttery because it is important.

I was built for this.

I will not accept less than I deserve.

I am Krissie f***ing Bentley.

The last one was my favorite.

And I think it worked.

Today’s work is accompanied by a scarf hippo hammock. This is Happy. He saved my life from a runaway truck tire on Easter 1997. We have been fast friends ever since. My AIM name was krisNhappy. He has been preserved in jello, thrown out of a sunroof on a Nashville interstate, and spent a few hours in a McDonald playland jail. He has been in my purse or backpack for every important test, interview, or hard conversation since 1997. He is the first non-living thing I would save in a fire. I love him. And he loves you. .and

There are seasons of receiving and there are seasons of giving. This time in my life - by necessity - has to be both. And I feel like I am just scraping by at both of them.

I’m harvesting in some areas while planting like mad in others. All - you know - in a time of pandemic and so much political unrest. And without all the support that my extrovert heart needs.

But I’m still here. Doing my healing. Helping you with yours. Letting my work that feeds me give me fuel for the learning and growth that I’m trying to absorb.

I’m tired, though. I’m not gonna lie. And I know you are tired too. I see you. And we walk each other home.

Okay. Break is over. Back to school!
