The road to becoming a dermatologist may not be quite what one would expect.
4️⃣ years of undergraduate studies ✅
4️⃣ years of medical school ✅
1️⃣ year of hospital internship ✅
3️⃣ years of dermatology residency ✅
12 years later, you blink and realize you’ve missed your entire decade in your 20s. It’s a long journey, but those you meet along the way make a lasting impact.
Last week I had the honor of returning to Detroit where I did my dermatology residency. This time the tables were turned and I had the opportunity to present a program for the current residents in training. Full circle moment. It was wonderful to see those who not only shaped my career, but shaped me personally becoming more like family. It was also a pleasure to see next generation preparing to enter the field of dermatology on their own in just a few years.
