You don’t have to have everything figured out to start asking better questions.

If you’re somewhere between “I think I want a homebirth” and “I have no idea where to start,” this is for you.

A Certified Professional Midwife is your out-of-hospital option. She attends homebirths and birth center births. In Tennessee, she is licensed through her own separate council, distinct from the nursing board that governs hospital-based midwives.

But having a CPM doesn’t automatically mean you’ve found the right one.

The questions in this carousel are not meant to intimidate her or you. They are conversation starters. The way she responds will tell you far more than any credential on her wall.

A midwife who welcomes these questions is one who respects your role in this process. That matters more than almost anything else when you’re deciding who to trust with your birth.

If you’re in Greater Nashville or virtually and want support navigating your options, I’m here for that conversation.

DM me “MIDWIFE” and let’s talk. Or book a free connection call at the link in bio.

Most women don’t realize there are different types of midwives.

And even fewer realize that two providers with the same credentials can approach birth completely differently.

Because labor doesn’t follow a textbook timeline.

There is a wide variation of normal in pregnancy and birth. And when things unfold differently than expected, your provider’s philosophy shapes every decision being made with you.
-Do they trust physiology?
-Do they collaborate with you?
-Do they support informed decision-making?

It’s about choosing someone whose approach aligns with your values, your goals, and the kind of support you want in birth.

This is the conversation I have with every client before they hire anyone.

If you’re in Tennessee or Greater Nashville, this carousel is specifically for you.

Midwifery is regulated state by state in the US, so what’s available and legal where you live matters.

👉🏽Swipe through to see what your options actually are.
Save this.

Follow along because next I’m breaking down the questions to ask CNMs, CPMs, and traditional midwives before hiring anyone.

Your birth story is your own. There is not another one like it. And it is being written by every choice you make.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of noise. What to buy, what to eat, what class to take, what everyone else did. It’s easy to get so caught up in doing pregnancy that you stop actually feeling it.

When did you last slow down and ask yourself what you actually want? Not what’s expected. What feels true to you, for your body, your baby, your birth.

You have full permission to choose what feels right for you. To pray. To be still. To get outside and get back in touch with the thoughts that the noise has covered up.

Every birth I’ve attended has changed me. In my first year I’ve been in the room for VBACs, homebirths, freebirths, birth center births, and twins. Each one a reminder of why this work chose me.

Every birth is a rebirth. For the mother, for the baby, and honestly for me too.

If you know a pregnant woman who needs to hear this, share this with her.

And if you’re the one still looking for your person, I’m here. Link in bio to book a free connection call.

Birth is primarily a normal bodily process, not a medical emergency by default.

**The female body is biologically designed to give birth.
**Labor and birth are not inherently pathological.
**Most healthy pregnancies can progress safely without routine intervention.

Amana is a Hebrew word.

It comes from the same root as Amen. To be firmly rooted. To be established. To be trustworthy.

The name is a double entendre. It speaks to the support I pray I bring to every mother and family I serve. And it speaks to the mothers who find me. The ones who are believing. Standing on the word of YHWH over whatever anyone else has spoken over them or their pregnancy.

The ones who are not moved.

That’s who this is for. That’s who this has always been for.

If you’re pregnant and looking for a doula who will stand with you in faith, not just show up at your birth, visit the link in my bio to book a free connection call.

“How do you show up in the space?” A mama inquired last week.

Knowing when to be in your ear and when to fade into the background.
Rubbing your feet with magnesium cream.
Creating a warm, dimly lit ambiance.
Making sure you have mineral rich broth. And enjoying every moment of making it.
Recommending herbs that gently support your system.
Holding baby, if and only if, you desire.
Praying over you and your family. Because this is a service unto YHWH first.
This is how I show up in Amana.

If something in you just said that is what I need, trust that. I have a limited number of birth and postpartum spots open right now.

Send me a message and let’s talk about your journey.
