Calorie Myth (all calories are the same and it’s just about number of calories) = busted!

This clip of my dear friend and colleague is from our podcast episode, where Dr. Anis takes issue with the way we view food and shares the TCM way of viewing food. Traditional Chinese Medicine sees food in terms of temperature, nourishment and inflammation.

A carrot is not the same as an M&M friends! Link to the full episode is in my bio!

During today’s episode I asked Dr. Kela Smith, hormone and fertility specialist, the drivers of infertility today, and the first thing she zeroed in on was stress. These days it seems like we’re all in a constant state of fight-or-flight. What can be done to calm our nervous systems? Her answer was the simplest you’ve ever heard (we can all do this!):

🧘Sit still and just be for two minutes a day.
💨Deep breathe in your diaghram, even if it’s just for that minute you’re sitting in traffic. This tricks your nervous system into a sense of calm, even when you’re not feeling it.

I’m still thinking about this point in the episode of the Ancient Health Podcast with Jordan Rubin. When he shared his miraculous story of coming out from the other side of Crohn’s disease healthy and thriving, he told us what he wished a practitioner told him: that they’ve been there and they have overcome. 💪

What a reminder for myself, and all practitioners out there: people struggling with a prognosis need hope!

Have you been in that place Jordan’s talking about? Share below and let’s encourage each other. 👇

L1–L2 tightness or that stiff low back every time you walk? 👀
There’s more going on than just your spine.

This area is often influenced by the nerves connected to the colon, kidneys, and small intestine — and I commonly see this pattern show up when the kidney’s are fatigued

Your kidneys are closely tied to your hip flexors, so when this area is tight or overworked, it can pull on your low back and create that stiff, locked-up feeling with movement.

So if you keep needing to get this area adjusted, it’s time to add more support — think hip flexor stretching and other lifestyle changes that help support kidney function and reduce strain on this area

A spiritual mindset shift for you to think about going into the week. 🙏

Father Dan Reehil shared some pretty profound thoughts on self-discipline in our culture today with myself and Dr. Anis Khalaf. It’s the biggest obstacle to genuine spiritual growth he sees right now!

Comment “505” for links for his advice on growing discipline to prevent spiritual attacks.

If you’re doing cold therapy lying down, you’re sending your body the wrong signal. 🧊

“When you’re in fight-or-flight, you don’t lie down. Try having an argument lying on your back — you immediately sit up.”— Wyatt Ewing.

This is why Ice Barrel uses an upright design. It’s not aesthetic. It’s neurological.

The upright position mirrors how the body naturally responds to cold stress. You get a more complete physiological response.

Add cold water immersion to your health routine:
→ Start with the hose (55-60°F)
→ Get to neck level
→ Stay upright
→ Exit when you shiver

Head to “Ancient Health Podcast” wherever you get your podcasts for my full conversation with Wyatt and use code DRMOTLEY at icebarrel.com for 12% off Barrels and Chillers. 💚

Something Jordan Rubin said in our interview stuck with me: What practitioners say to patients matters so deeply. People need hope, because they can’t recover if they don’t believe they will recover!
