I’ll always remember Jaimie Fox telling me “the pressure is lighter than a butterfly landing on you”
And Lori Hendrickson, CST reminded me anything over 5-7g will trigger your patient’s protective muscle defenses.
The same goes for myofascial release...if you’re holding your breath, what does that tell your brain aka the driver of movement and protection?
➡️ only that you’re not safe so why would it relax/unwind/let go?
My girl JT the AT l Your Guide to 🌿 Moving Well, Living Well! 💪 in the weight room teaches this as RPE: rate of percieved exertion
My challenge for yall today today is to do LESS. YES! Even on a Monday.
If something makes your hold your breath, slow down. Reassess.
When something makes you clench your fists (and your jaw which then means your pelvic floor is clenched too)…slow down, reassess.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 is simply I can’t breathe through this. Keep your sensations around a 6-7.
Do less, get more.
