Meet the team bringing emergency care closer to East Nashville

🏥 What is a freestanding ER?

A freestanding ER provides hospital-level emergency services in a location that is separate from a hospital. Unlike urgent care, it is designed to evaluate and treat medical emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

At TriStar East Nashville ER, adults and children can receive emergency care for serious conditions and injuries, including chest pain, stroke symptoms, breathing difficulties and traumatic injuries. The ER also offers on-site laboratory services, CT and X-ray imaging, and a seamless connection to TriStar Skyline Medical Center when a higher level of care is needed.

Meet Shelia Storm, RN, one of the nurses helping bring this care closer to East Nashville.

"A freestanding ER allows us to care for and serve the local community."'

💙 For Shelia and our team, being part of East Nashville means being here when our community needs emergency care.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest ER.

When severe bleeding happens, knowing how to respond before emergency responders arrive can make a difference. ❤️

Scouting America Troop 76 of Pleasant View recently joined our TriStar Skyline team for Stop the Bleed training, where Scouts learned how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and how trained bystanders can respond in an emergency.

🩸 Stop the Bleed training is designed to help community members feel more prepared to act during the critical moments before professional help arrives.

🩷🤍 Pink and pearl represent two important health conversations: breast cancer awareness and lung cancer awareness.

Every Tuesday in October, the HCA Healthcare Sarah Cannon Cancer Network team at TriStar Skyline Medical Center hosts Pink and Pearl Days to help our community learn more about breast health, lung health and recommended screenings. Our partners at Solis Mammography also join us to share breast health education and information about screening and diagnostic services.

Here are a few ways to turn awareness into action:

🩷 Prioritize breast health. Talk with your doctor about when mammograms are recommended for you, and share any new breast changes or concerns. Mammograms can help find breast cancer before symptoms appear.

🤍 Understand your lung cancer risk. Ask your doctor whether low-dose CT lung cancer screening may be appropriate for you, particularly if you have a history of smoking. Avoiding to***co and getting support to quit can also help protect your lung health.

Knowing your risks and understanding your screening options can help you make informed decisions about your health.

Stop by TriStar Skyline Medical Center on Tuesdays in October to ask questions and learn more about breast and lung health.

“I wouldn’t be here without the folks at this ER."

When Thomas Covey began experiencing unusual chest tightness, he knew he shouldn’t ignore it. He thought of his neighbor, Emily Henry, a nurse at TriStar Lovers Lane ER.

There was a problem: Thomas didn’t know where the ER was, so he called his neighbor.

Hundreds of miles away at her bridal shower, Emily gave Thomas the address. That phone call launched Thomas's journey through three TriStar Health facilities, ultimately saving his life.

Thomas received emergency care at TriStar Lovers Lane ER before being transferred to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital for advanced cardiac care. When physicians determined he needed emergency heart surgery, his care team coordinated a transfer to TriStar Centennial Medical Center for a quadruple bypass surgery.

After recovering, Thomas returned to TriStar Lovers Lane ER with family and treats in hand to say thank you! ❤

In Thomas's time of need TriStar Health's connected system of care was ready and equipped to respond with lifesaving emergency care.

This weekend, colleagues from across TriStar Health came together to support heart health in the communities we’re proud to serve. ❤️

With participation from all of our Nashville-area TriStar Health facilities, our teams raised more than $110,000 for the American Heart Association — helping support its work to improve cardiovascular health and save lives.

A special shoutout to our colleagues at TriStar Horizon Medical Center, who brought the celebration home to Dickson by hosting their first Heart Walk at the hospital. We’re proud to see our colleagues showing up for healthier communities across Middle Tennessee.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated and supported this important cause!

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4dv7dUz.

"I am here because of what your team did."

In June, Pastor Michael Peasall arrived at the TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center emergency department experiencing a massive heart attack. His care team quickly recognized how serious his condition was and rushed him to the cardiac cath lab, where they discovered five blocked coronary arteries.

Every minute mattered. Michael received an emergency balloon angioplasty to restore blood flow and stabilize, giving him the time he needed to safely reach TriStar Centennial Medical Center for quintuple bypass surgery.

Two weeks later, Michael returned to TriStar Hendersonville to personally thank the cath lab team.

For Michael, having lifesaving heart care close to home made all the difference. At TriStar Health, we cover all aspects of heart health, and our connected network of care means a smooth transition between our facilities to get the care you need.

“Today are we lucky to be here because of the people who step up when we need them the most."

Nearly three months after a devastating taco truck explosion changed their lives, Tim and Tiffany McPherson returned to thank many of the people who helped care for them.

On June 4, the TNT Tacos owners were seriously injured when their food truck exploded. Both suffered severe burns and were airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where their recovery included surgery and specialized burn care.

Their reunion at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County brought together first responders, healthcare professionals and members of the teams involved in their care — an example of the collaboration that helps connect patients with the right care when every moment matters.

The gathering was especially meaningful as TriStar Skyline celebrates five years of specialized burn care. Supported by a state-designated Level I Trauma Center, the multidisciplinary burn program brings together specialists who support patients across Middle Tennessee through treatment and recovery.

For Tim and Tiffany, the day was an opportunity to reconnect with and thank many of the people who played a role in their journey. 💙
