Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home LLC The Mooney Funeral Home is a small family owned funeral home dedicated to providing professional and caring service to the local surrounding communities.

The Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, LLC was purchased by Tom Mooney in 1976. At that time the funeral home was called The LeClair Chapel. The building at 11 Elm Street had been a funeral home for many years. It was formerly owned by Edward Mutterer until his death in 1957, The Tebbutt Funeral Home from Albany and eventually Ernest LeClair. Ernest LeClair had worked for Tebbutt and eventually purcha

sed the funeral home. Ernest and his wife Penny lived at the funeral home until moving to ColdWater Tavern Road. In 1976 Tom purchased the funeral home from Ernest and Penny LeClair. In 2008 Tom’s son, Terry, completed his internship at The Daniel Keenan Funeral Home in Albany and joined his father in business.

Today, with heavy hearts, we share the obituary of our dear friend, colleague, and fellow funeral director, Richard “Dick” Gagnon, Jr.

Over the past three years, we were blessed to work alongside Dick and develop a bond and friendship that truly felt like family. His kindness, compassion, and dedication touched countless families throughout Columbia County and Southern Rensselaer County during a remarkable career spanning more than 40 years.

Dick served his community with dignity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to helping families through some of life's most difficult moments.

Dick will also be remembered for his incredible sense of humor. He had a way of making everyone smile, lightening even the toughest days, and bringing laughter to those around him. His friendship, wisdom, and caring nature will be deeply missed.
We are heartbroken by this loss and grateful for the time we were able to spend with him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his beloved wife, Cheryl, and his daughters, Regina and Celia, and his extended family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the love of family, friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives Dick touched throughout his lifetime of service.

Rest in peace, Dick. Your legacy of compassion, friendship, and service will never be forgotten. ❤️
