In recognition of Pride Month, Needham Pediatrics celebrates the dignity and diversity of all individuals. We are committed to fostering respect and inclusion for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and our practice is a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Our providers welcome collaborative communication with patients and families regarding questions or resources. Pride is both a joyful celebration of togetherness and progress, and a time for reflection on the ongoing journey toward equality.

“Leaves of three, let it be” and “hairy vine, no friend of mine” are good reminders to keep in mind when you and your kids are outside.

Poison ivy, oak, and sumac contain oil that can cause an itchy rash when it touches your skin. Even breathing in smoke from burning these plants can be dangerous. While most rashes can be treated at home, certain symptoms may require additional care from your primary care.

Call our office if your child has:
• Trouble breathing or severe coughing after being around burning plants
• A rash that lasts more than 3 weeks
• Signs of infection or serious swelling
• Rash on the face, eyes, lips, or ge****ls
• Rash covering more than 1/4 of the body
• Symptoms getting worse

The sun and heat are back—but so are UV rays! Here are some tips for sun safety and soothing sunburn.

Always remember to reapply sunscreen at least every 2 hours, or more often if your child has been swimming or sweating. For infants under 6 months, keep them out of direct sunlight whenever possible.

No one wants bugs... especially the stomach bug! 🦠

💧When dealing with a gastrointestinal illness, the greatest risk is dehydration. Small, frequent sips of clear fluids are key to staying hydrated. Start with starchy foods that are easy to digest, like cereals, crackers and bread.

🚫 What to avoid: Dairy, fatty foods, and sugary drinks, as these can worsen symptoms.

Here are a few tips and reasons to call Needham Pediatrics! Save this post for the next time the stomach bug strikes, and never hesitate to reach out to our office if you have concerns!
