Most people don’t actually know how to hip hinge.

They squat it… or crank through their low back.

But once you learn how to properly load your hips, everything changes.

More glutes.
Less low back tension.
Better movement overall.

Sometimes the right cue is all it takes to make the movement finally click.

It’s hard to learn but coachable.

The biceps and triceps play a bigger role in shoulder health than most people think.

Both muscles attach directly into the joint and help stabilize the shoulder.

If one muscle keeps taking the hit, something else isn’t doing its job well.

Train the ENTIRE arm, not just the muscle that’s already overworking.

A hill I’ll die on:

Banded rotator cuff work is overrated for chronic shoulder pain.

After seeing hundreds of cases, the cuff is usually already strong.

The problem?

The rest of the arm can’t handle work very well.

If band exercises haven’t helped…it’s time to zoom out.

Your shoulder works as a system, not in isolation.

Most people with low back pain brace their abs too much and try to sit perfectly straight.

But for your spine to bend back, your pelvis needs to tip forward and your rib cage needs to tip back, creating length into your abs.

But over-bracing locks everything in place.

Less movement = more stiffness

Reduce tension first, then build the movement.

Weekends like this remind me how important it is to stay connected.

A quick NYC trip to celebrate people I care about, plus finding a good bagel and coffee spot.

A big win this week at PX:
My client couldn’t even finish a squash practice when we first started working together.

She had to withdraw from this same tournament last year…and came back this year to win her division and finish as a finalist in her age group 🤯

This is why I do what I do!

Spring is here in Boston, which means getting out more and exploring.

If you haven’t checked out Rubato in Quincy yet… what are you waiting for?!

Also, I’m pretty sure my cat knows when the camera is on him now 😂
