Happy Lion’s Gate! 💛🦁⭐

Most people celebrate this annual astrological event on 8/8 when its energies peak.

But the Lion's Gate is actually a window of time - starting in late July and running through mid-August - when the Earth, the Sun in Leo, and the star Sirius align in the sky.

It’s considered one of the most powerful windows of the year for intention-setting, manifestation, and personal transformation.

And today (7/28) is the opening of the Portal!

This year’s Lion’s Gate is especially potent for several reasons:

1. The Numerology: 8 is the number of life force and abundance. It represents the bridge between the spiritual and material worlds. That’s why the date 8/8 is so significant. This year, we have a triple 8 frequency (8+8+2+0+2+6=26 which reduces to 2+6=8) which enhances the energies even more.

2. The Astrology: This Lion’s Gate starts today with a Full Moon in Aquarius, and ends on the 12th with a Solar Eclipse in Leo.

Jupiter and Pluto are also prominent players this year, which may bring up tensions between personal expansion (shining your light, yea!) and staying “small and safe”.

This all adds up to an enhanced window of opportunity for personal transformation and growth - both spiritually and materially.

Some moments just fill your heart. 💙

My illustration The Truth About Atlas — five women of different ages and backgrounds, rooted together like a tree, arms raised in unison to hold up the world — has been chosen as the face of a bravery-themed women's conference for the Metropolitan New York Synod in New York City.

The event features the groundbreaking Bishop Katrina Foster, the first openly gay woman elected as a Lutheran bishop in New York, and Antonia Clemente, who founded a domestic violence shelter in Brooklyn. Women who hold up worlds — gathered together under a theme of bravery.

I painted this in 2012 with no idea where it would travel. Knowing it will be in that room on March 14 moves me deeply. This is why we make art. 🌍✨
