After 6 nights in paradise, we have traded the islands for the mountains. The cool air, green mountains and beautiful vistas feel amazing. Staying at an active coffee farm surrounded by hiking trails with coffee delivered to our door this morning. Heaven.
If traveling has taught us anything over the years, it’s to be nimble, to go with the flow and keep some space in the plans. And that’s exactly how we planned this second week of the trip and I’m so glad we did. The earthquake a few days ago has shifted some ideas we had. We did feel the big one, although we were on a white sand beach on an island far from the epicenter and wondered if we’d had perhaps one too many cervesas, the locals were pretty unnerved as they hadn’t experienced something like that before. Last night here in the mountains we felt a pretty good one as well, with the epicenter again along the pacific coast. Wild.
Our original loose idea was a couple of nights here in Boquete then hit the open road stopping along Pacific coast beach towns that called to us before getting back to Panama City next Sunday. I’m so grateful we kept this week pretty much unplanned, as Mother Earth had different plans. It seems we will stay here in this slice of heaven a little longer and likely not take many detours off the Pan-American highway as those coastal communities are reeling from the quakes. We don’t need to be a drain on precious resources as they are recovering. ❤️🩹
maybe we’ll head back straight to Panama City get an extra night or two in Casco Viejo. We will see where the road takes us!
Grateful for the beauty and kindness of Panama. Grateful the quakes didn’t cause more damage than they did to this place. Grateful for my adventure partner and partner in life.
Panama has my heart 🇵🇦 💛
