Phyllis Maxine Williams

Phyllis Maxine Williams, age 98 of Colo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.

Phyllis was born on May 24, 1928, in Lenox, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Glenna (Haas) Stoaks. She graduated from Ames High School in 1946 and was united in marriage to the love of her life, Tommy Howard Williams, on August 29, 1948, at First Christian Church in Nevada, Iowa. Together, they shared 77 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on love, faith, and family.

Phyllis devoted her life to her home and family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of Collins Christian Church in Collins and found joy in sewing, crafting, and fishing. More than anything, Phyllis treasured the time she spent with her family. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Tommy of Colo; her daughter, Linda Herman of Des Moines; her son, David Williams of Collins; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Nancy) Stoaks of Colorado; and her sister, Margie Mauer of Pennsylvania.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Howard Dean Williams; and her siblings, Eugene, Harlan, Max, and Helen Stoaks.

A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Parkway, in Nevada. Family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Ashton Cemetery in rural Mingo, Iowa. Roxanne Scott

Roxanne Scott, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Nevada, Iowa, on June 11, 2026. Born Roxanne Ihle on May 15, 1958, in Ames, Iowa, she lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and an ever-present smile.

A 1976 graduate of Nevada High School, Roxanne carried the values of her Midwestern upbringing throughout her life. She devoted more than twenty years to her career at Sigler Printing in Ames, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2020.

On December 17, 1993, Roxanne married Ronnie Ray Scott, a union that brought meaningful companionship and joy. Though Ronnie predeceased her, their bond remained a fond memory cherished by Roxanne.

Roxanne’s personality was luminous; she always wore a smile that brightened the days of those around her. Her love for her family was profound and unwavering, and she treasured every moment spent together. She especially delighted in spending quality time with her beloved Pug, Tucker, whom she spoiled with affection. Roxanne’s creative spirit found expression in her enjoyment of diamond art and sharing laughter and friendship over lunch outings.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jenny (Landon) Earles of Nevada, and son, Matt (Anna) Litchfield also of Nevada. Her family extended to twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness. Roxanne also leaves behind her stepson, Brent Scott of Roanoke, Virginia, and her stepdaughter, Cara Cole of Oklahoma, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Roxanne was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Jackie “Jack” Ihle and Louphena “Lou” Bell Klockentager, as well as by her husband, Ronnie Ray Scott.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa, located at 1418 Fawcett Parkway. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to honor Roxanne’s spirit and share the many stories filled with joy, humor, and love that defined her life. Roxanne will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery (cremation garden) in Nevada.

Roxanne Scott’s passing leaves a profound void, but her radiant smile, her gentle spirit, and her boundless capacity for love will forever remain as a guiding light for all who were blessed to know her.

Barbara Jean Robinett

Barbara Jean Robinett, (White), passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at Windsor Manor in Nevada, Iowa. Born on April 19, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, Barbara lived a life filled with devotion to her family, a passion for her career, and a love for the simple joys that brought warmth and color to her days.

Barbara graduated from Collins High School in 1963 and subsequently attended Bernell's School of Cosmetology in Ames. She began her professional journey as a dedicated mother, nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. Later, she fulfilled her entrepreneurial spirit by owning her own beauty shop in Collins before advancing to become the manager of Great Clips in Ames, where her expertise and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike.

United in marriage to Michael Lee Robinett on June 22, 1963, in Nevada, Iowa, Barbara shared over six decades of partnership, companionship, and mutual support with her beloved husband, Mike of Collins. Together, they built a family grounded in love and steadfast commitment.

Barbara was a woman of many interests and talents. Her fondness for horses, photography, crafts, painting, sewing, and knitting enriched her life and those around her. She delighted in traveling, with a special affection for the majestic mountains of Colorado and Wyoming and found peace and happiness fishing with the grandkids at the farm pond. Her creativity and zest for life inspired those who knew her.

Above all, Barbara took immense pride in her role as a grandmother. She was a steadfast supporter of her grandchildren, often found cheering them on at their various activities, always with cookies or Subway in hand. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and encouragement to Shane (Emily) Robinett, Seth Robinett, Jessica Robinett, Brittany Robinett (Nate Novotny), and Laken Duffy. She also cherished her great-grandchildren Weston and Vivian Robinett, Ava Miller, Boone and Bo Robinett, and Briggs, and Chayton Novotny.

Barbara's surviving family includes her sons Jeff (Chris) Robinett of Maxwell and Joel “Joe” (Sydney) Robinett of Newton. She is also survived by her brother Kevin (Monica) White of Mitchellville and her sister Joyce White of Des Moines. They remember her as a great mom and wife who enriched their lives with kindness and strength.

Preceding Barbara in death were her parents Cecil and Juanita (Holsinger) White and her brother David White.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Barbara Jean Robinett’s life will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, located at 1418 Fawcett Parkway, Nevada, Iowa. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa. Barbara’s legacy of love, creativity, and commitment to family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Elizabeth Marie Rhoads

Elizabeth Marie Rhoads, age 90 of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose quiet kindness and steady love touched the lives of many.

Elizabeth was born October 23, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John and Anna (Musal) Konopasek. She graduated from Reavis High School in 1953 and, on September 4, 1954, was united in marriage to Harold Eugene Rhoads in Illinois. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and caring for those around them.

Elizabeth spent her career working for Donnelly Marking in Nevada, where she was known for her dedication until her retirement in 1997. In her free time, she found happiness in simple pleasures—playing Bingo, knitting, crocheting, and spending time at her computer playing games. These pastimes reflected her gentle spirit, patience, and the joy she found in everyday moments.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna (David) Marcomb; her son, William (Chellie) Rhoads; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and her sister, Mary Lou Nagy.

A visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Pkwy in Nevada. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Collins Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Llani Sue O'Connor

Llani Sue O'Connor, a woman whose spirit was as vibrant and adventurous as the life she embraced, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at Windsor Manor. Born on October 5, 1942, Llani lived a remarkable life dedicated to creativity, curiosity, and compassion. Her motto, "embrace life and find your color," was not just a phrase but a guiding light that illuminated her path through every chapter of her journey.

Llani's intellectual pursuits and love of learning were evident from an early age. She graduated from high school in La Porte, Indiana, in 1960, earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University, and later achieved a Master’s of Executive Management from Northwestern University. With these strong educational foundations, she forged a successful career marked by her work in magazine publishing and editing before also finding fulfillment as a real estate professional.

Her passion for the arts was boundless. Llani was an accomplished piano player and took great joy in serving as a museum docent at three different art museums, where she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with countless visitors. She cherished the theatre, especially Broadway productions, and harbored a deep admiration for Shakespeare and historical figures like Queen Elizabeth I. A voracious reader, she immersed herself in history and non-fiction, feeding her inquisitive mind.

Llani’s heart beat with a fierce commitment to justice and equality. She was actively involved in defending civil rights and social justice causes, embodying her belief in a fair and compassionate world. Her adventurous spirit extended to travel, as she delighted in exploring both near and distant destinations, each trip enriching her understanding of the world and its diverse cultures. Fashion was another passion that allowed her to express her vibrant personality and creativity.

Llani has always been active in her local churches, most recently finding a home with the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Iowa.

She is survived by a loving family that brought joy and warmth to her life: her sister Sarah Sentman of Charleston, WV; her sister Nancy (Dan) Hobt of Nevada; her brother Dr. Larry (Dr. Mimi Jacobs) Cripe of Indianapolis; her sister Melissa (Jim) Hahn of St. Joseph, MI; and her brothers-in-law, John Lanie and Jerry Preuss. She also treasured her nieces and nephews—Matthew (Ryan) Preuss, Jennifer (Frank) Fabianski, Jason (Alison) Lanie, Christopher (Kathy) Hobt, Meghan (Daniel) Eddy, Katherine Boller, Natalie (Matthew) Vegter, Lawrence (Chris) Cripe, Millicent Cripe, Amanda (Chris) Craig, Jamie (Dan) Kavanagh, and Samantha Schultz—as well as 21 great-nieces and nephews who carry forward her legacy of love and adventure. Llani is also survived by many dear friends who were woven into the tapestry of her life.

Llani was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Dean and Helen (Saunders) Cripe, as well as her sisters Roberta “Berdee” Lanie and Meri Ellen Preuss and her nephew, Brian Lanie.

A Graveside Service will be held on June 5, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Nevada, Iowa, beginning at 2:00 PM. On June 28, 2026, a Celebration of Life will be held at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory in Nevada, Iowa, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, providing a welcoming space for all who loved Llani to share stories, laughter, and tears in honor of her extraordinary life.

Llani Sue O'Connor’s life was a vivid tapestry woven with courage, creativity, and boundless enthusiasm. She taught all who knew her the power of embracing life fully and finding the color within themselves. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a guiding light, inspiring others to live boldly and compassionately.

Marlys Johnson

Marlys Jean (Anderegg) Johnson, age 91, born October 28, 1934, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 31, 2026. She was a cherished member of her community, whose dedication and warmth touched many lives throughout her lifetime.

Marlys graduated as valedictorian from Moneta Consolidated Schools in 1952, a testament to her intelligence and diligence from an early age. She devoted much of her professional life to supporting education and communication, first serving as assistant to the principal at Nevada Junior High School and subsequently contributing her talents to office work at GTE. Beyond her career, Marlys embraced the role of homemaker with devotion, nurturing her family and home with great care. She was united in marriage to Merlin “Johnny” Johnson on December 26, 1976. Johnny passed away in 2013.

A woman of many interests, Marlys found joy in playing Bridge, assembling puzzles, reading, gardening, and the culinary arts of cooking and baking. Her love for travel brought her over 30 winters spent in McAllen, Texas, where she relished watching sports and exploring new places. These pursuits enriched her life and provided fond memories that she treasured.

Marlys is survived by her sons, Michael Boetel of Nevada and Mark Boetel of Ames; her daughters, Pamela (Charles) Davis and Patricia (Lin) Yoder, both of Nevada; and her stepson, Cal (Joni) Johnson of Alaska, Jackie, Randy, Cindy, Pam and Ray. She also leaves behind her sister, Mary Rons of Hartley, and sister-in-law, Sharon Anderegg of Brookings, South Dakota. Her legacy continues through seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Raymond and Leona Anderegg; her husband, Merlin "Johnny" Johnson; and her brothers, Don Cochron, Dale Cochron, Harlan Anderegg, and Glen Anderegg.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 1418 Fawcett Parkway, Nevada, Iowa. The funeral service will follow immediately at 6:30 p.m. at the same location. Cremation rites will follow the service, and a private burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

Marlys Johnson’s life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew her.

Angela Hunter

Angela Roxie Hunter, of Jewell, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Accura Healthcare of Ames, at the age of 57.

Angela was born on June 16, 1968, in Nevada, Iowa, to Robert Earl and Shirley Ann (Mayfield) Hardy. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1986 and, later that same year, on November 22, married the love of her life, Lowell David Hunter, at the Assembly of God Church in Nevada.

Angela worked as a housekeeping supervisor at the Baymont Inn in Ames and later in environmental services for Mary Greeley Hospital. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved Sheepadoodle, Emma. Angela found joy in life’s simple pleasures—time spent with family, motorcycle rides, camping trips, good music, weekly road trips with Dana, and antiquing adventures with her sister-in-law, Cheryl. More than anything, she treasured being a grandma and being surrounded by the people she loved most.

Angela leaves behind her husband of nearly 40 years, Lowell of Jewell; her son, Rodney (Shawn) Hunter of Roland; her daughter, Samantha Scalf of Jewell; her cherished grandchildren, Rylie, Travis, Liam, and Mia; her brothers, Andy (Sue) Hardy of Nevada, Angela’s twin, and Rod (Lynette) Hardy of Florence, Arizona; and her sister, Gaylene Hardy-Wilson of Colo. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Shirley Hardy; her brother, Rob Hardy; her son-in-law, Austin Scalf; and her beloved dog, Emma.

A celebration of Angela’s life will be Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Hickory Grove Park – Oriole Ridge Lodge, 67464 250th Street, Colo, IA 50056. Marilyn Argotsinger

Marilyn Virginia Argotsinger passed into eternal life on May 24, 2026, at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA at the age of 93. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church, 1036 7th Street, in Nevada. Family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Marilyn will be laid to rest at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

Marilyn was born on October 29, 1932, in Onawa, Iowa, to Olius M. and Anna R. Olson of Mapleton, Iowa. She was raised on tenant farms and educated in country schools, entering the first grade at age four. By age 11 she was giving piano lessons. Her first public performance was at her brother’s wedding at age 12. She has been playing the piano and giving private lessons to children and adults over the past 82 years.

Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Mapleton High School and the first in her family to attend college, graduating in 1952 from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Jack D. Argotsinger on August 16,1952 and began her teaching career in Melvin, Iowa. Jack and Marilyn moved around several times before settling for good in Nevada, Iowa in 1959. Marilyn enjoyed being a homemaker, selling Avon and sharing her love of music through countless church and school activities.

Marilyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, PEO, an honorary member of the Nevada Lions Club and served on the Nevada Cemetery Board for several years. She was an exceptional cook, baker, seamstress, and upholsterer. Holidays at Grandma’s house meant lots of Grandma Rolls, Kruns Kruchen, Spritz cookies and Kringla. She was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage, and loved documenting the family history. Her great-grands knew her and affectionately called her ‘Grandma Great’. Marilyn was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who were impacted by her many talents.

Marilyn is survived by her three children and spouses: Jeff (Betsy) Argotsinger of Peoria, AZ, Julie (Dave) Larson of Ave Maria, FL and Jamie (Barb) Argotsinger of Rogers, AR; Grandchildren Jennifer (Ben) Seigman, Matthew Argotsinger, Jill Argotsinger, Carrie (Craig) Kuhlmann, Chelsey (Erik) Miller, Kerstie Larson (Brian Perry), Emily (Matthew) Shortino, Andrew Argotsinger, and Ryan (Acacia) Argotsinger.

Great-Grandchildren Illa, Lars, Quinley, Lakyn, Camden, Charlotte, Sofie and Jack. Sister Maribelle (Richard) Betterton of Cedar Falls, IA, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Deb and Paul Malsom and Vicki Tendall of Nevada, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, two brothers, one sister, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and four nephews.
