Baptist Health Floyd and the Floyd County YMCA are partnering to offer free Pink Ribbon Pilates classes beginning Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 10-11 a.m., for individuals recovering from breast cancer surgery and treatment.
The YMCA will offer the space for the class as well as free child care for participants. Baptist Health Floyd will provide the instructor, Susie Stewart, and the participants.
“We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Baptist Health Floyd and the opportunity to work together in supporting individuals and families affected by cancer,” said YMCA Associate Executive Director Melissa Wilson. “At the YMCA, we are committed to meeting people where they are, and programs like this — along with our LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program — allow us to provide meaningful support, connection, and care during a very challenging time. By partnering together, we can help ensure our community has access to a wide range of services that promote healing, wellness, and hope.”
Pilates is a low-impact exercise focused on core strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, and body awareness.
“Baptist Health Floyd and the Floyd County YMCA have partnered for many years, and we believe this is another wonderful opportunity to align our efforts to offer a meaningful program for women undergoing breast cancer treatment,” said Rayna Sebastian, director of Radiology Services at Baptist Health Floyd. “Any opportunity we have to help alleviate some of the stress that comes with a diagnosis and treatment, while promoting self-care and support, is a valuable step toward improving their overall well-being.”
There is a limit of 12 participants. Click https://operations.daxko.com/programs/redirector.aspx?cid=2149&pid=122779&sid=2436139 to register for the class.
