The “Boat” ❤️
Back in February, Paula rolled through our doors in a wheelchair.
Cancer treatments had taken so much from her. She had lost feeling and function in her legs, and when she first came to our office, she couldn’t even get onto our treatment table without us physically helping her.
That first visit is one I’ll never forget.
It had been a difficult day for me personally, and as we talked, Paula shared the story about the man waiting for God to rescue him. God kept sending a boat, but the man never got on because he was waiting for something different.
Then she looked at us and said…
“You are the boat God sent me.”
I don’t think she’ll ever fully understand how much those words meant to me. In a season where I needed encouragement myself, God used one of our patients to remind me that He is always working—even when we can’t see it.
From that day forward, we got to work.
We started with laser therapy to address the neuropathy. Weeks later we added muscle stimulation to help wake those muscles back up. Then came stretches, exercises, and eventually chiropractic care. Throughout it all, Paula faithfully continued physical therapy and never stopped fighting.
There were hard days.
There were tears.
There were pep talks.
There were prayers.
And there was a whole lot of hope.
One day Paula walked into the office with her walker and smiled as she said, “I made us breakfast this morning.” She told us she couldn’t remember the last time she’d been able to stand in her kitchen long enough to cook.
That moment was a victory.
Yesterday brought another one.
Paula walked with just a cane at PT.
Not because the journey is over—but because she’s one step closer to the goal she’s had from the very beginning:
To walk on her own again.
She’s getting stronger. She’s getting faster. And every week she continues to prove what perseverance, faith, consistency, and a team working together can accomplish.
The truth is…we’ve helped Paula.
But Paula and her husband have helped us just as much.
They’ve reminded us why we do what we do.
Dr. Briscoe never gave up on her, and neither did she.
We know there’s still work ahead, but we also know this…
One day soon, we believe she’ll walk through our doors without a walker or a cane.
Thank you, Paula, for trusting us with your journey, for allowing us to be part of your story, and for reminding us that sometimes God sends the rescue in ways we don’t expect.
❤️ We are honored to be part of your team.
