Back-to-school season can bring excitement, but it can also bring anxiety, especially for children adjusting to new routines, teachers, classrooms, and expectations. 🎒
Anxiety in kids does not always look like worry. It may show up as irritability, crying, sleep changes, clinginess, restlessness, tantrums, stomachaches, headaches, or trouble separating from parents.
A few ways to support your child:
Talk through what to expect before school starts, practice the morning routine, validate their feelings, keep goodbyes calm and consistent, and create space after school for rest and connection.
If anxiety begins interfering with sleep, school attendance, daily routines, or your child’s quality of life, it may be time to reach out for support.
