🌿 An Exciting New Chapter Ahead for Claire Randall LM, CPM 🌿

We are excited to share that Midwife Claire will be launching her own home birth practice in 2027 - a goal she has worked toward since joining the Joyful Beginnings Birth Care team.

While we are certainly going to miss having Claire as part of our day-to-day team, we are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the care, compassion, and dedication she has shared with our clients over the years. Supporting midwives as they grow into the next chapter of their careers is something we deeply value, and we are excited to see her pursue this dream.

For our current clients, nothing is changing about your care. Claire will continue caring for all of her currently assigned clients through the completion of their pregnancy, birth, and six-week postpartum care, just as planned. Our entire team will continue working together to ensure every family receives the same personalized, compassionate care you've come to expect from JBBC.

Please join us in congratulating Claire on this exciting milestone and wishing her the very best as she prepares to build her own practice.

Congratulations, Claire! We are thankful to have been part of your journey and look forward to cheering you on in this next adventure. 💚

Siblings at your birth, let’s chat about it 🤍✨

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Having older siblings present at the birth of their new baby can be a beautiful, memorable experience—but it’s worth thinking through both the benefits and the challenges before making your decision.

✨ Pros:
• They get to witness the incredible moment their sibling enters the world.
• It can help them feel included and strengthen the family bond from the very beginning.
• Seeing birth unfold naturally can be a positive, empowering experience when they’re prepared for it.

🤍 Things to consider:
• Birth is unpredictable. It can be long, emotional, loud, or require unexpected medical interventions.
• Children may become tired, hungry, overwhelmed, or scared.
• Your partner’s primary role should be supporting you during labor—not juggling childcare.

That’s why midwives typically recommend having a trusted support person whose only job is to care for the children. This could be a grandparent, close friend, or another familiar adult. If your child wants to stay, they have someone to support them. If they need a break, a snack, a nap, or to leave altogether, they can do so without pulling your birth partner away from supporting you.

The goal is for everyone—especially you—to feel safe, supported, and able to stay focused on the birth.

If you’re considering having siblings attend your birth, spend time preparing them with age-appropriate conversations, videos, books, and realistic expectations. A little preparation can make a big difference.

Would you have your older children at your birth? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! 💛

🌿 Nourishing your body in early pregnancy matters more than perfection.

Focus on simple, consistent choices:
• Protein with every meal (Goal: 80-100g a day!)
• Hydration (Goal: 100oz a day!)
• Whole foods when possible (we LOVE for all things nutrition)

Morning sickness? Small, frequent meals can help stabilize blood sugar and reduce nausea.

💛 Remember: This season is about supporting your body, not restricting it.

Have questions about nutrition? We’ve compiled our favorite resources and recommendations over on our website! Hit the "Resources tab and scroll down to "Nutrition & Supplements".

For our OG veteran mamas: how did you sneak in extra protein during your pregnancy? Drop your tips and tricks in the comments, pls!
