August, done. Texas strong as ever.

Thank you to every family who trusted Advanced Home Health Services this month, every nurse and therapist who showed up in Texas heat, and every referral partner who sent us their patients.

September starts fresh. We’ll be there.

Back to school season doesn’t just affect kids.

For older adults in Texas who spent the summer with grandchildren or extended family, the shift back to school means fewer visitors, less help around the house, and more time alone. That change in routine can affect everything from medication adherence to nutrition to mental health.

If you have a parent or grandparent who might be more isolated as fall approaches, Advanced Home Health Services can help bridge that gap — with skilled nursing, therapy, and a familiar care team who shows up consistently.

Did you know that medication management is one of the most common reasons older adults end up back in the hospital after discharge?

Our nurses at Advanced Home Health Services don’t just dispense medications — they educate. They review side effects, flag interactions, build routines, and make sure patients and families actually understand the plan. That kind of hands-on support is what keeps a manageable situation from becoming a crisis.

If you know a family in our Texas service areas who could use this kind of care, tag them or send us a message.

Texas July heat is serious business—especially for patients on medications that affect how the body manages temperature.

Diuretics, beta-blockers, and some blood pressure medications can reduce the body’s heat tolerance without any obvious warning. This means a patient who feels ‘fine’ can still be at real risk on a 100-degree day.

Talk to your Advanced Home Health Services nurse about which medications require extra heat precautions this summer. And as always: stay cool, stay hydrated, call us early if anything feels off.

The heat affects more than just comfort.

For patients managing CHF, COPD, or diabetes, high temperatures can directly impact their condition—not just make them uncomfortable. If you’re a family caregiver this summer, watch for:

→ More fatigue than usual
→ Swelling in the legs or ankles
→ Unusual shortness of breath
→ Confusion or disorientation

These can be early signs of a complication or condition flare. Your Advanced Home Health Services care team is always just a call away.

Texas summers don’t play around. For patients managing heart or lung conditions, extreme heat adds real risk. A few reminders from our clinical team:

Drink water consistently—don’t wait for thirst
Avoid outdoor activity between 11am–5pm
Light, breathable clothing and shade breaks
Call your care team if you notice dizziness, confusion, or rapid heartbeat

Stay cool out there, Texas.
