Sometimes the hardest part of change isn’t effort, it’s learning to feel safe enough to stop pushing. If this feels familiar, you’re not alone and you don't have to figure it all out alone. - Laura

Starting EMDR can feel like a big step, and you deserve to feel prepared and supported before the deeper work begins.
In my practice, I spend time helping clients build the skills that make EMDR feel more grounded and empowering—things like resourcing, grounding, understanding your nervous system, and using a mental container to hold anything that comes up between sessions.
When clients know how to steady themselves, their EMDR work becomes clearer, smoother, and more effective.
I recently wrote a blog about this preparation phase and why it matters so much.

Have you ever wondered what actually happens in an EMDR intensive session?
In this new blog, I break it down step by step:
✔️ The 90-minute planning session that sets the stage
✔️ What a 3-hour EMDR session feels like (hint: it’s about depth, not rushing)
✔️ FAQs about breaks, snacks, clothing, and aftercare
✔️ Gentle ways to support your healing after the session
If you’re considering EMDR intensives in Connecticut, this post will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

As the days grow shorter, our bodies often ask for a slower rhythm. Fall is a reminder that rest, softness, and small comforts matter just as much as productivity.
Your self-care doesn’t have to be big or elaborate—sometimes it’s as simple as a candle, a walk in crisp air, or letting yourself turn in early. 🌙
✨ What’s one comfort you’re leaning into this season?

You’ve decided you’re ready for an EMDR intensive… but now comes the hard part: finding the right therapist.
In Part 2 of my EMDR Intensive Journey series, I walk you through how to begin your search — from the exact phrases to type into Google or AI tools, to what to notice on a clinician’s website so you can start narrowing your list.
🌿 Finding the right fit takes courage, but you don’t have to figure it out all at once. Start with one search, one website, one email.

You’ve read the books. Tried to think your way out of it.
But anxiety still has a grip on your chest at 3am, in the car, in meetings, or during the simplest conversations.
EMDR therapy offers something different—not just insight, but nervous system-level relief.
In my latest blog, I explore how EMDR and parts work can help you move from managing anxiety… to actually shifting it.

You don’t need a "big T" trauma for EMDR to help.

Many of the women I work with don’t identify with the word “trauma”—but they do feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, people-pleasing, or burnout.

Often, those patterns come from early experiences that weren’t big or obvious… but still live in the nervous system.

In my latest blog post, I talk about how EMDR can help you heal from what never got named—but is still showing up today.

✨ EMDR for perfectionism, anxiety, and emotional neglect
✨ What counts as “small t” trauma
✨ Why EMDR intensives are so effective for deep, layered healing

Sometimes self-care isn’t what we picture.
It’s not always face masks, yoga, or journaling.
Sometimes, it’s quietly choosing to cancel plans.
Turning off your phone.
Saying no—even when it’s hard.

Self-care is the radical act of honoring your limits without needing to explain or justify them.

You don’t have to do more to be worthy of rest.
You’re allowed to pause. To protect your energy. To tend to what you need, even if it’s invisible to others.

I work with women who are tired of pushing through—who are ready to listen inward and begin healing from the inside out. If that’s you, you’re not alone. 💛
