Attorneys are trained to shape narratives, assess credibility, advocate persuasively, and protect the interests of others. Yet the language used in legal settings can either reinforce shame and bias or promote dignity, accuracy, and more effective advocacy. This course will explore how stigma affects the people lawyers serve, how it operates within the legal profession itself, and why reducing stigma is both a client-centered and lawyer well-being issue.
