The Promise Clinic The HIPHOP-Promise Clinic is a volunteer-based clinic operated by medical students from Rutgers RWJMS What makes us unique? What care do we provide?

The Promise Clinic is an entirely student-run clinic that aims to provide free primary care to the clients of Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen in New Brunswick, NJ. Our patients are uninsured and many are afflicted with common chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. We are affiliated with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Promise Clinic

is built upon a continuity of care model. Each new patient is paired with a team of medical students from all levels of training. The assigned student-doctor team will be responsible for the patient's care throughout the patient's stay with clinic, ensuring continuity that is characteristic of primary care. Under the close supervision of volunteer attending physicians, medical students are committed to providing an encompassing range of care for our patients. Promise Clinic provides basic health maintenance screenings by monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar levels. We also provide prescription medications, basic laboratory blood work, and vaccinations, all free of charge to patients. We offer psychiatric care for non-emergent cases with the assistance of volunteer Psychiatry resident physicians from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. We also assist qualifying patients in applying for Charity Care so that they may meet Specialty Care needs such as Optometry, Podiatry, Endocrinology, Cardiology, etc.

The HIPHOP-Promise Clinic is excited to invite you to our fundraiser at Evelyn's Restaurant & Bar on Friday, August 7, from 7:00–9:00 PM! This is a great opportunity to relax after class, meet students from other class years, reconnect with classmates, and support an important cause.
For $5, you'll receive a wristband that gives you access to a discounted food and drink menu, with all proceeds going directly toward HIPHOP-Promise Clinic's operating costs.

As we reflect on the journey HIPHOP-Promise Clinic has embarked on for the 2022-2023 year, we want to recognize the collective efforts and dedication of everyone in our community. Together, we have continued to serve our community here in New Brunswick, NJ.

Promise Clinic Preceptor Highlight: Dr. Iris Udasin

Our very own, Dr. Iris Udasin, a volunteer preceptor at Promise Clinic, was recently featured in a News 12 New Jersey story for her work as the medical director of the Rutgers University World Trade Center Health Program Clinical Center of Excellence!

Since 2003, this program has helped treat emergent health conditions related to the events of 9/11, ranging from PTSD to cancer, in 5,000 first responders. We are immensely proud of Dr. Udasin's contributions to the field of occupational healthcare, and we are thankful to have such a compassionate, dedicated physician on our team!🩺
