In addition to the 30 bed expansion, our pollinator garden is also taking shape, and we expect our plants, trees, and flowers to be planted soon. Brain Health Awareness month is a great time to reflect on how our loved ones are navigating each day, and when some forgetfulness might be evolving into early signs of memory loss, cognitive decline, or early dementia. Recognizing the signs and being proactive about planning and care can help not only your loved one, but their families and caregivers. It gives you opportunities to ask the right questions, put future plans in place, and know what’s the right next step in a sequence of difficult decisions to navigate.
At Waveny we like to say “get to know us before you need us”, so when you finally do need additional support, you know how and where we can help. The true range of care we offer might be different than you think!

What an honor to march in New Canaan's 250th celebration parade! 🇺🇸
Walking alongside our neighbors and celebrating 250 years of community and freedom. This weekend's festivities remind us that we're part of something bigger. Thank you to the Waveny employees who spent countless hours brainstorming and creating our float for the parade. Our organization is supported by the spirit of community and volunteering, and we are incredibly Grateful for the people who work to make all these things possible.

For Alzheimer’s and brain health awareness month we want to recognize the incredible impact of the of Waveny’s navigator program for Alzheimer’s and dementia in new Canaan. If you are caring for a loved one with dementia, please reach out to see how the navigators can help. The resources this team provides is unmatched, and because they are a grant-funded program, the services are entirely free for New Canaan Residents.

We were honored to be a recipient of the First County Bank Foundation’s 2026 Annual CommunityFirst Grant Program to help fund our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) School, The Kathleen M. Fruin, RN, CNA School.

The mission of Waveny's CNA program is an extension of our organizational goals to offer a high level of care in an environment that prioritizes quality and excellence, further enriched by skilled employees who shape our culture across the Waveny continuum.

How Our CNA School Turns Opportunity into Impact:

- We utilize an “earn-to-learn” model that eliminates financial barriers by covering tuition and related costs, allowing students to earn income during training.
- Faced with a growing demand for Certified Nursing Assistants, our state-accredited CNA Program provides training to the next generation of compassionate frontline healthcare workers, all while removing the financial barriers to education.
- The School offers a route to professional advancement with courses and content that are directly applicable to work in the field. Internally, the program creates an opportunity for employee upskilling that further optimizes the operational strength and competency of the Waveny workforce.
- Our comprehensive training and organizational support means students receive classroom instruction followed by mentorship in skilled nursing, acute rehab, and assisted living.
- Students work alongside tenured CNAs, receiving individualized support from experienced RN managers, with additional training that includes guidance on time management, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
-The program curriculum is enhanced by exam preparation with students participating in simulated skills assessments in a realistic environment and the incorporation of practice tests and test-taking strategies.
