After 45 years of dedicated service to Mary Wade Healthcare, CEO David Hunter is retiring.

Our Chairman of Mary Wade's Board of Trustees, Joanne McGloin, said in the announcement:

“We are immensely grateful to David Hunter for his many years of leadership. His impact at the helm of Mary Wade can never be overstated. His dedication to this organization, and to our community, resonates through our work: the highest-quality compassionate care, senior living, and wellness services our older adults need so that they can age with dignity and quality of life in a thriving, caring community.”

At Mary Wade’s Adult Day Center, artist Alfred W. Carrion continues to share something deeply meaningful—his view of the people around him.

Through powerful portraits, Alfred captures fellow participants not just as subjects, but as individuals full of spirit, personality, and connection. Each sketch reflects moments of dignity, friendship, and everyday life shared within our community. 🫶

A lifelong artist and educator, Alfred’s work reminds us that creativity doesn’t retire, it evolves. And in doing so, it continues to bring purpose, expression, and joy.

We are proud to celebrate Alfred’s ongoing journey and the way his art helps us all see one another more clearly.

🎓❤️ Across Generations in action.

Mary Wade residents recently joined students from the University of New Haven for meaningful conversation, storytelling, and connection through our Across Generations Project.

Catherine, an RCH resident, had the opportunity to sit down with UNH students for an engaging interview filled with shared experiences and thoughtful dialogue — an experience she truly enjoyed.

Programs like this continue to build bridges between generations, one conversation at a time.

As a special thank you during Nurses Week, Bill K., Vice President of Mary Wade HealthCare, traded his office attire for a chef coat and cooked breakfast for our amazing nursing team 🍳✨

Superheroes were in the making at the Mary Wade Adult Day Center 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️✨

Participants designed their own custom superhero capes for the “Capes for Heroes” initiative, bringing creativity, joy, and meaning to every design.

These handmade capes will help bring hope to children in shelters. 💙

🐷🐴 This year for National Skilled Nursing Care Week, our residents had one special request… farm animals! And our Therapeutic Recreation Team was more than happy to deliver.

From pigs giving kisses to a mini horse strolling in with pink boots, the smiles and laughter said it all. Animal visits can help reduce stress and loneliness while creating joyful emotional connections, and we saw those moments happen effortlessly throughout the day. 🐽✨

A big thank you to our amazing dietary team for teaching our residents how to make their very own pickles! From learning the process to adding their favorite flavors, everyone had a wonderful time getting hands-on in the kitchen. 💚
