Thank you to the entire Yale Health community for making today’s blood drive a tremendous success!

Yale Health staff and generous donors from across campus came together to exceed both the American Red Cross’ collective goals. Four Power Red donations were completed against a goal of two, and 32 whole blood donations were made against a goal of 21.

This achievement reflects the strength and generosity of the Yale Health community, and every donation made will help save a life.

We look forward to hosting additional blood drives in the future, stay tuned for details.

⚠️ Health Alert: Cyclospora Cases in Connecticut

The CDC has issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) alert for Cyclospora (Cyclosporiasis) cases in multiple states, including Connecticut. As of July 17, 50+ cases have been reported in Connecticut.

Protect yourself:
🥬 Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly, even if labeled “pre-washed.”
🥗 Choose whole heads of lettuce over bagged salad mixes when possible. Remove and discard the outer two to three layers of leaves and wash inner leaves under running water.
🧑‍🍳 Cook produce when possible. Heating food to 158°F (70°C) or higher kills Cyclospora.
🧼 Wash your hands before eating and preparing food.

Symptoms may include watery diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, fever, bloating, and loss of appetite. If you develop persistent symptoms, call our 24/7 Nurse Triage line at (203) 432 - 0123.
