Our core mission is to advance the best science of clinical care for individuals with autism and their families.

Welcome to the Autism Program at the Yale Child Study Center, Yale University School of Medicine. Our clinical services include evaluations, treatment and capacity-building consultations to schools and the community at large. Our research covers a wide range of clinical and basic science projects, from gene-finding to access to community services. The focus of this research is social and communication development, linking genes to brain to behavior. We train the next generation of leaders in the field in various disciplines of science and clinical care. And we are deeply involved with parent support and governmental agencies, having the ultimate goal of advancing knowledge, disseminating best practices, and improving services in the community.

On September 25th, Drs. James McPartland and Claire Harrop chaired the inaugural Females on the Autism Spectrum Summit, sponsored by the Matthew Hillman Fisher Foundation. Leading autism researchers came together to share and discuss the current state of science on how autism can present differently in females and how research can continue to advance in these areas.
It was an outstanding event bringing together researchers committed to better understanding the experiences of autistic females and advancing research in this important area. Click the link in our bio to read the article about the summit!

On August 29th, we had our 2nd annual McPartland Lab Community Day! This event included pizza and snacks for everyone, fairy hair, a gelato truck, and even face painting. We are so grateful to all of our past participants, families, and community partners for showing up and showing out! It was a BLAST celebrating all of you, while also welcoming new members of our community and sharing more about the work we do! Thanks everyone! 💜☀️

It is our final farewell to these amazing members of the McPartland Lab team who are on to their next bold adventures. Sara, Casey, Isabel, Lacey, Sarah, and Bri, thank you for all you've done to make the lab a brighter, warmer, and more special place.

We can't wait to see where your path takes you next. It is a bittersweet goodbye, and hopefully not goodbye forever; we're sure our paths will cross again! 💜

At the end of April, the McPartland Lab traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to attend the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) annual meeting! At this year’s conference, Dr. McPartland chaired a panel highlighting the progress made by the Autism Biomarkers Consortium for Clinical Trials over the past decade, fellows Sara Eberle and Casey Carrow presented at a Special Interest Group, and all lab members shared their research during poster sessions throughout the conference. We greatly enjoyed attending panels, meeting colleagues from across the world, connecting with lab alumni, and learning from experts in the field! Thank you to INSAR for having us!

A couple of weeks ago, the fellows attended the Profound Autism Summit in Boston hosted by the Profound Autism Alliance! We got to share more about our studies, while meeting representatives from organizations within the autism community and learning from experts in the field. Additionally, two of our fellows, Casey Carrow and Sara Eberle, had the opportunity to present on our studies that use adaptive strategies to include underrepresented populations, namely autistic children with co-occurring intellectual disability. It was also lovely to connect with previous fellows, Cassie Stevens and Max Rolison. Thank you Profound Autism Alliance for having us!

On March 21st, we hosted our second Autism Acceptance Basketball Game in collaboration with Yale Athletics & the Yale Men’s Basketball Team! It was a close game, but the Bulldogs pulled out a win! We loved spending time with supporters of the McPartland Lab and the Autism community! Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a special day! 🏀💜
