This is what happens when two moms, who should know better, think they can get two energetic boys to take a nice picture together. πŸ˜‚

Spoiler: we could not.

My dear friend came to visit with her son and our house was an absolute beautiful chaos. Two boys. One house. Zero chill. πŸ˜„

Between hosting, homeschooling, running my practice, making meals, managing the aforementioned chaos, and attempting to maintain some version of a functioning household β€” the week was a masterclass in wearing all the hats simultaneously.

And you know what? I wouldn't trade it.

This is the messy, loud, imperfect, deeply full life that I get to live. The hats are heavy sometimes. But they're mine. πŸ’™

To every mom out there holding it all together this week β€” even when the "nice picture" doesn't cooperate β€” I see you. You're doing better than you think.

How many hats are YOU wearing this week? Drop them below. πŸ‘‡πŸ˜„

Nobody tells you that stress lives in your body. Like, literally lives there. In your shoulders. Your jaw. The base of your skull. That spot between your shoulder blades that never quite goes away.

The ones holding it all together carry an invisible load β€” the mental tabs that never close, the to-do lists, the logistics, the emotional labor. And the nervous system absorbs all of it.

This is exactly why chiropractic care is so much more than "cracking backs." When we work on your spine, we're working on your nervous system β€” your body's command center. We're helping it shift out of fight-or-flight and into a state where it can actually heal, rest, and function the way it's supposed to.

You don't have to just push through. There's another option. πŸ’™

What does tension feel like in YOUR body? Tell me below β€” you might be surprised how many others feel the same. ⬇️

We took a little field trip a couple weeks ago 🌲 Lake Itasca β€” the headwaters of the Mississippi River. And yes, it absolutely counted as school. πŸ˜„

We learned about the river, walked the headwaters, soaked up as much natural vitamin D as the Minnesota summer would allow, and moved our bodies in ways that no gym could replicate. My son walked across the Mississippi River on rocks β€” which felt like a pretty big life moment for a kid who spends a lot of time in his dirt area. πŸ˜‚

Here's what I always notice on trips like this: how GOOD the body feels after a full day outside. Real movement. Real sunlight. Real fresh air.

No screen. No schedule. Just the kind of reset that reminds you why taking care of yourself matters in the first place.

We also had a long car ride each way β€” and you better believe we stopped to stretch. Because this chiropractor mom was NOT going to sit in a car for hours without getting out and moving. πŸ˜„

Sometimes the best homeschool lessons and the best health lessons are the exact same thing. πŸ’™

Have you ever been to Lake Itasca? Drop a πŸ“ below!

This morning, while my son was still asleep, I started my day outside.

A light drizzle.
Bare feet on the grass.
A simple workout.

No gym. No fancy equipment. Just movement.

Standing barefoot in the drizzle before the day begins feels like a quiet reminder that nature doesn't wait for perfect weatherβ€”it simply keeps going.

And maybe our health should be the same.

We don't have to wait for the perfect schedule, the perfect weather, the perfect motivation, or the perfect season to take care of ourselves.

Your body was designed to move, and movement doesn't have to be complicated. Walk the neighborhood. Do squats while dinner is in the oven. Play tag with your kids. Stretch in the backyard. Dance in the kitchen.

The best workout isn't the perfect oneβ€”it's the one you actually do. Over and over.

That's why I keep encouraging my patients to show up consistently for their health. The biggest changes rarely come from one big effort. They come from the small choices we make over and over again.

You don't need perfection.
You just need to keep showing up.

Your home can be your gym.
Your yard can be your reset.
Your body is ready.

What's one small way you'll choose to move today? πŸ’š

No "last day of school" photos from us this year. πŸ™ˆ

As a homeschool family β€” we school year-round by choice. Not because we're strict (okay, maybe a little πŸ˜„), but because we've seen what happens to momentum when you stop.

It takes weeks to rebuild what a long break breaks down. And as someone who has been consistent about their own health habits for years now, I see the exact same pattern in my patients.

The people who feel the BEST aren't the ones who go hard for 3 months then stop. They're the ones who show up consistently β€” even imperfectly, even in summer β€” and keep moving forward.

No grand gestures. Just steady, sustainable progress.

Whether that's your kid's education, your chiropractic care, your movement practice β€” momentum is the goal. Protect it. πŸ’™

Does this resonate? What's one thing you've kept consistent this year that's made a difference?

Apparently "my dirt area" isn't just for kids.

Last week I shared a post about my son's backyard construction zone🚜 β€” his self-named "dirt area" where he decompresses after school work each day.

🌸Recently I found myself doing the same thing in my own flower beds. Barefoot. Hands in the soil. No agenda.

In the military, stillness isn't exactly celebrated. You're trained to be productive, mission-ready, always moving forward. It took years after service β€” and honestly, becoming a chiropractor β€” to understand that stillness isn't weakness. It's recovery.πŸ’ͺ

🦢Grounding β€” direct physical contact with the earth β€” has emerging research support for reducing inflammation, supporting immune function, and regulating the nervous system.

My son does it instinctively. I had to be reminded.

The simplest health practices are often the ones we overlook most easily β€” especially as moms and veterans who are wired to keep pushing.

The dirt area isn't just for our kids. 🌱

In the military, I learned to push through.

Pain? Walk it off. Exhausted? Keep going. We heard all too often, "suck it up and drive on!" Your body becomes something you push past, not something you listen to.

For a long time I carried that into civilian life. And honestly? Into motherhood too.

How many of you moms feel this?πŸ™‹

It took becoming a chiropractor to really understand what that cost me β€” what it costs a lot of you β€” in terms of chronic tension, nervous system dysregulation, and a body that's been in ""survive"" mode for years.

Here's what I want all my fellow moms to know: strength isn't ignoring your body. Strength is finally deciding it deserves care.

That's why I do what I do. πŸ’™

Are you a veteran mom? I'd love to connect. Tag someone who needs to hear this. ⬇️

He calls it "my dirt area." 🚜 It's basically a mini construction zone that changes every single day β€” new roads, new structures, new whatever-his-brain-dreamed-up-today. After school work is done, that's exactly where you'll find him.

No screens. No agenda. Just dirt and imagination.

Here's what I love about it beyond the obvious mom joy: he's grounding. Literally. Bare feet or hands in the earth β€” and science actually backs this up. Grounding has been shown to reduce inflammation, support immune function, and regulate the nervous system.

As a chiropractor, I talk about nervous system health every single day. And here's my kid, instinctively doing it in the backyard. πŸ˜„

As a homeschool family that schools through summer β€” no long break, no summer slide, just keeping the momentum going. This dirt area is part of that rhythm. Work hard, then go play hard in the dirt.

Real life. Real health. Right here in the backyard.

Does your kid have a "dirt area" equivalent? Or do YOU? πŸ˜„ Drop it below! ⬇️

Hey β€” quick question. Where is your head? And no, I don't mean "get your head in the game" πŸ˜„ β€” I'm talking about where is your head physically. (Though if you're a mom with kids in sports, you've probably heard that phrase approximately 4,000 times this season. πŸ˜‚)

Is it jutting forward toward your screen right now?

Forward head posture is one of the most common things I see in my practice β€” and one of the most overlooked. For every inch your head moves forward, it adds about 10 lbs of extra stress on your cervical spine. If you're working at a desk, driving, or scrolling your phone, this is probably you.

The fix isn't complicated: chin tucks. Pull your chin straight back β€” like you're making a double chin β€” and hold for 5 seconds, repeat 10 times.
Do it now. But don't OVER do it. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

If you feel the muscles at the back of your neck and head clenching, you've gone too far. These are TINY movements. Just enough to make a small double chin.
Repeat after me: Double chins are sexy. Double chins are sexy. 😏

Seriously though β€” overdoing it creates other problems, and we don't want that.
Do it at your desk. Do it at red lights. Do it right now.

Your neck will thank you. So will your nervous system. πŸ’™

Drop a 😬 if your head just moved back when you read this.
