This prestigious designation recognizes our commitment to providing comprehensive, coordinated care for children with rare diseases through expert genetics services, multidisciplinary collaboration, groundbreaking research and family-centered support.

"This designation is a recognition of the incredible work our team does," said Ian Krantz, MD, chief of the division of medical genetics and system vice president of pediatric genetics.

As part of NORD’s national network of Centers of Excellence, we'll continue working alongside leading experts across the country to advance research, improve diagnoses and expand access to specialized care for children and families facing rare conditions.

🍕❤️ After years of living with a rare genetic condition that affected multiple organs—including his kidneys—Nathaniel is back to enjoying one of his favorite foods: pepperoni pizza.

Diagnosed with Kabuki syndrome as a child, Nathaniel's care brought together experts across multiple specialties at Cohen Children's Medical Center, including our Genetics & Genomics Program and Pediatric Kidney Transplant team. When his kidney disease progressed, a life-changing transplant gave him a healthy new kidney—and a renewed quality of life.

Today, Nathaniel is thriving, back in school, and doing what every teenager should: enjoying life.
