🚨 CONFIRMED RABIES ALERT — PLEASE CHECK YOUR PET’S VACCINES 🚨
A confirmed case of rabies has been reported in an unvaccinated dog in Mire, Louisiana. The dog had no known wounds or known exposure to rabies but began displaying progressive neurological symptoms. Due to the progression of the illness, the dog was ultimately humanely euthanized. Subsequent testing confirmed rabies, and additional testing is currently pending on other pets from the household.

Rabies is a serious and deadly disease, but thankfully, it is also preventable through vaccination.

🚨Please take a moment to check your pets’ vaccination records and make sure their rabies vaccines are current. Louisiana requires dogs, cats, and ferrets over 3 months of age to be vaccinated against rabies.🚨

Because the safety of our patients, clients, and staff is our top priority, All Creatures Veterinary Hospital will require ALL patients being seen at our hospital to be current on their rabies vaccination.
We understand that keeping up with vaccines can be an added expense, so we want to help make protecting your pets more affordable!

With the recent confirmed rabies case in the Mire area, I just want to take a minute to remind everyone that rabies is closer to home than we’d like to think.

One of the main reasons we don’t see much larger numbers is because pets are legally required to be vaccinated — and rightfully so. Rabies vaccination truly matters.

Out of all the vaccines we talk about in veterinary medicine, rabies is BY FAR the most important.

There are plenty of vaccines that may or may not be necessary depending on your pet’s lifestyle, age, health, environment, and individual risk factors — but rabies is different.

Rabies is fatal once symptoms develop, it can affect people as well as animals, and thankfully, the vaccine is very safe and extremely effective.

Please take a minute to check your pet’s records and make sure their rabies vaccine is current. ❤️

🩵 Honoring June’s Golden Paws 🩵

Summer brings longer days, more time outside, and so many of those simple moments our pets make special—the familiar footsteps following us from room to room, a favorite spot in the sunshine, a head resting in our lap, or simply the comfort of knowing they are there.

For the families who said goodbye this June, those everyday moments become some of the memories held closest. 🌈

Through our Passing the Golden Paw initiative, the love of these pets continues. Faithful Friends Veterinarian had made Donations to Golden Paw Charity in their honor. These donations help to provide support for local animals in need, including vaccinations, spay/neuter services, comfort care, and assistance for geriatric pets and geriatric owners. 🐾✨

As the days grew warmer and summer began, we said goodbye to some very special companions whose love will remain long after their final days.

Each of these pets had a story—a favorite spot to sleep, a familiar face waiting at the door, a silly habit that made their family laugh, and countless little moments that became treasured memories. They weren’t simply pets. They were part of the family. 💕
