More than 100,000 people are awaiting lifesaving organ transplants and 60 percent of these people are from communities of color. August is National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month. The need for donation and transplant is more pronounced in minority communities where disproportionately higher rates of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease contribute to organ failure, especially kidney failure. We're facing an emergency blood shortage — our national blood supply fell nearly 25% over the past month. During a blood shortage, doctors may face difficult choices about which patients receive blood transfusions and who will need to wait.

We are in urgent need of donors to help patients who are counting on lifesaving blood following accidents, during surgeries, and for treatment of conditions such as sickle cell disease and cancer.

Help us beat the current shortage by scheduling an appointment to give blood or platelets: https://rdcrss.org/44nJnVN
