🎗️ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗

Behind every breast cancer diagnosis is a person, a family, and loved ones whose lives are forever impacted.

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, and the median age at diagnosis is 63.

These numbers are a reminder of why awareness, support, and early conversations about breast health matter.

This month, we honor those we've lost, celebrate survivors, and stand beside everyone currently facing breast cancer. We also recognize the families and caregivers who offer strength, comfort, and love every step of the way.

The Auxiliary wants to take a moment to shout out Laurabeth Steele from Academy Point and Kate from Elder Care by Care at Home, who have kindly offered to host a food drive at their next Bingo event this Wednesday, September 16th to support the Auxiliary! The Rhode Island Senior Network (RISN), organized by Elder Care by Care At Home, gathered senior care professionals today for a morning of networking, education, and meaningful connection at Tamarisk in Warwick.

This month’s educational presentation, “Supporting Our Aging Community: Resources & Services from JCS,” featured Kristina Contreras Fox of JCS. Kristina shared valuable information about programs and services that help older adults remain connected, supported, and independent, including Life Link, Meals on Wheels, and counseling services.

RISN is about bringing professionals together to share resources, learn from one another, and strengthen the connections that help us better serve older adults and their families. The morning gave attendees the chance to meet new colleagues, reconnect with familiar faces, ask questions, and discover resources they can bring back to their organizations and the people they serve.

Of course, there was also breakfast, great conversation, a Q&A with Kristina, and a raffle to round out the morning!

A special thank you to Jimmy Goncalves at Tamarisk for hosting RISN, Kristina for sharing her expertise, and everyone who joined us and helped make the morning such a meaningful gathering.

We look forward to continuing to bring the Rhode Island senior care community together through RISN!

🎉 Bingo Night at Academy Point! 🎉

What a fun evening of Bingo, laughs, prizes, and community! A huge thank you to the amazing Academy Point staff, residents, and all of our community partners who helped make tonight so special.

A special thank you to Michelle, Suzanne, Amy, Alicia, Emily, Laura, and Miledy for donating prizes! 🎁 Every prize was a hit!

Together, we raised over $200 for the Alzheimer’s Association, with all proceeds going directly to support their mission.

Today we celebrate the birth of our nation and honor the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who fought for our freedom. Independence Day is a time to come together with family, friends, and neighbors, reflect on the values that unite us, and appreciate the freedoms we often take for granted.

🇺🇸 Holiday Office Hours Reminder 🇺🇸

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, we’d like to let everyone know that our office will be closed beginning tomorrow, Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5, and will reopen Monday, July 6.

While our office staff will be away, Care At Home is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our caregivers will continue providing care as scheduled, and our on-call management team is always available if you need us. Please don’t hesitate to call the office at any time.

What an incredible morning! 💜

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association—Academy Point residents and staff, our community partners from Connecticut and Rhode Island, friends, and everyone who stopped by.

We sold so many baked goods, Brew Haus sold out of coffee, and most importantly, we came together for an amazing cause.

A special thank you to Academy Point at Mystic for partnering with Care at Home for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Southeastern and for making events like this possible. We had so much fun and are so grateful for your support!
