Standing tall beneath the summer sky, sunflower has long been a plant that invites us to contemplate our relationship with the Sun, vitality, and the ways we embody our own light.

In the latest episode of the Ritual Herbalism Podcast, we explore solar herbs and the flower essence of sunflower, along with the kind of leadership and sovereignty this plant invites us to consider. Not power over others, but an inner strength rooted in right relationship. The kind of strength that knows who it is without needing to diminish anyone else, and that creates the conditions for others to flourish too.

If this way of energetically working with plants resonates with you, our Art of Flower Essence Therapy course is where we begin to deepen that relationship. It is also the foundation for our Flower Essence Practitioner Training, so if practitioner work has been calling to you, this is a beautiful place to begin.

Full episode linked in bio. 🌻

P.S. Art of Flower Essence Therapy is $100 off through August 31. If the practitioner program has been on your mind, beginning here now gives you the foundation to continue into the next stage of the training when you are ready.

Our very first Twin Star Foundations of Herbalism Weeklong Immersion is officially in the books, and what a week it was. 🌿

5 days, 5 incredible herbal felid trips, 9 herbal preparations, 40 hours of class time, 6 teachers and 12 students from all over the country - California, New York City, Philadelphia, and beyond spent an unforgettable week immersed in the plants, people, and places of the Southern Appalachians.

As the most biodiverse temperate region in North America, these mountains are an incredible classroom. Together, throughout the week, we explored forests, gardens, and herb farms in both sunshine and rain, getting to know native, naturalized, and invasive plants, each with their own story and gifts.

Every day was hands on. We made flower essences, elderberry syrup, herbal teas, infused oils, and healing salves while deepening our understanding of the plants through observation, conversation, and time spent on the land.

What made this immersion so special wasn’t just the knowledge that was shared. It was the community that formed. New friendships, meaningful conversations, muddy boots, full medicine baskets, and a deeper connection to the plants reminded us why this work matters.

We were blessed to learn alongside the very best in the region and visit Red Moon Herbs, Kestrel Herb Farm, 💫 T W I N S T A R 💫, and the Asheville Botanical Garden and to be guided by an incredible teaching team including the folks who lead our Twin Star North and Twin Star South cohorts: Jeannie Dunn, Melissa Fryar, bek, Ůnderworld, Lupo Jenna Faccenda and our favorites somatic practitioner and songstress Leah Song, whose closing circle of movement and music was a most beautiful way to end the week.

To everyone who helped make this inaugural immersion possible, and especially to the students who trusted us enough to be part of the very first one, we’re so glad you were here. 🤍

Last Saturday, our Level One herbal students had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at Kestrel Herb Farm, Kestrel Herb Farm nestled deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

A light rain and mist rolled gently over the hills as we wandered through fields glowing with brilliant orange calendula, bright, pink, echinacea and light, purple, Annie's hyssop creating a landscape that felt entirely magical. It was one of those days that reminds us why we love being herbalists, and even more importantly, how much work goes into running and maintaining herb farm.

We are so grateful to the farm family at Kestrel Herb Farm for their dedication to growing fresh, organic herbal medicine and for the care they pour into supporting our local community. Their stewardship of the land is truly inspiring and we are blessed by the best to have them in our community.

Our students spent the day identifying medicinal plants, learning directly from the land, and crafting fresh herbal tinctures while surrounded by the beauty of a thriving organic herb farm. A special thank you to one of our lead apprentices, Jamie, who is also a farmer at Kestrel. It was such a joy to experience the farm through her eyes and learn from her during our tour.

We’re especially excited because we’ll be returning next week with another wonderful group, our Foundations of Herbalism Weeklong Immersion students. We can’t wait to share this beautiful place with them, too.

Thank you, Kestrel Herb Farm, for opening your gates, sharing your knowledge, and reminding us that some of the best classrooms are found in the fields. 💚🌿

🌾 NEW PODCAST EPISODE IS HERE 🌞

Episode 13: Lammas, Sacred Sovereignty & Solar Herbs is now live.

As we gather under the radiant Leo Full Moon and at the threshold of Lammas, we’re invited to pause and ask: What is coming into fullness? What have I been tending that is ready to be harvested?

Lammas reminds us that every harvest begins with devotion. Every seed planted, every relationship nurtured, every practice returned to again and again eventually bears fruit.

In this episode of the Ritual Herbalism Podcast, we explore:
🌻 The deeper meaning of Lammas as the first harvest festival
☀️ The medicine and folklore of the solar herbs flourishing this season
🌿 What it means to cultivate sacred sovereignty in a rapidly changing world
✨ How the plants teach us resilience, reciprocity, and the courage to live in alignment with our deepest values

To turn toward the plants, learn their language, and remember our place within the living world is an act of coming home. Whether you’re just beginning your herbal journey or have been walking this path for years, we hope this conversation inspires you to deepen your relationship with the green world.

🌿 Just a few spots remain (and one scholarship still available) for this Friday’s Summer Foraging Immersion!

Summer is a season of abundance, and this class is all about leaning into learning. How to recognize, harvest, and celebrate the botanical gifts that are all around us.

This is the second class in our three-part seasonal foraging series (Spring • Summer • Fall), and we’ll spend the day together at the Edible Food Forest in downtown Asheville, exploring the incredible diversity of medicinal and edible plants thriving in an urban landscape.

Led by Herbalists Lupo Passero, Melissa Fryer, and Jeannie Dunn, who combined have nearly 100 years worth of experience! Together we’ll focus on urban foraging, ethical harvesting, and creating beautiful, summer-inspired herbal remedies from the plants we meet along the way, while hosted by our friends FrenchBroadFoodCoop

If you’ve been feeling called to spend more time with the green world this summer, we’d love to welcome you. We have a 50% scholarship available to help make this experience more accessible, so please reach out if that would support your participation.

🌿 We hope to see you in the forest, field, or botanical urban landscape soon!

There is something so special about reaching a place where you know your plant medicine so deeply that you can simply follow your intuition.
This birthday tea was blended for a dear friend, layering each herb by feel rather than measurement. Starting with holy basil, linden, and milky oats as the foundation, then added red roses, calendula, blue butterfly pea, and cornflower to create a blend that is both beautiful in the jar and stunning once infused.
The butterfly pea transforms the tea into the most gorgeous shade of blue. It can be enjoyed warm or chilled and add a squeeze of lemon, it will shift into a vibrant magenta. This is the beauty of herbal medicine where art, science, and spirit come together. Understanding the plants, their chemistry, their energetics, and allowing intuition to guide the process all have a place in the work.
People often ask for recipes and exact measurements, but the truth is that this kind of blending comes from years of studying the plants, understanding their actions, learning their flavor profiles, and developing a relationship with them. Eventually, there comes a moment when you trust what you know enough to let your heart and intuition guide your hands.
That kind of confidence doesn’t happen overnight, but it is absolutely possible for anyone who is willing to study, practice, and build a relationship with the plants.
If you’re feeling called to deepen your knowledge, we would love to welcome you into one of our upcoming herbal immersions. Come study with us and discover what becomes possible when you learn the art, science, and spirit of herbal medicine.

Happy Birthday - you are a gem of a human being and a blessing of a friend. May your day be absolutely magical!!
