For people facing advanced pancreatic cancer, treatment options have often been limited. But a newly FDA-approved targeted therapy is offering a reason to feel hopeful.

Daraxonrasib is a once-daily pill that works by targeting KRAS, a gene that can have a mutation found in more than 90% of pancreatic cancers. In a clinical trial, the drug doubled the median survival time compared with standard chemotherapy — meaning more time for some people living with advanced pancreatic cancer.

🎉 A major milestone for surgical care in New Milford!

Together with the Shapiro Family Physical Rehabilitation facility, New Milford Hospital celebrated the opening of Mnuchin Family Surgery! The updated surgical unit is designed to bring advanced technology, modernized spaces and high-quality care together for our community. 👏

The new unit has a robotic surgery system for procedures, including hernia repairs. New Milford Hospital also offers robotic-assisted same-day orthopedic procedures, including total hip and total knee joint replacements.

The space also features experience updates for patients, families and staff from registration and waiting areas to pre-operative rooms and ORs.

Thank you to the Mnuchin and Shapiro families and everyone who helped make this possible – your extraordinary generosity is helping New Milford Hospital continue to grow alongside the community it serves. 💙

Together with Mnuchin Family Surgery, New Milford Hospital celebrated the new Shapiro Family Physical Rehabilitation facility, expanding access to high-quality physical, occupational and speech therapy. 👏

The modern outpatient space is designed around patients’ real lives, with personalized rehab for everything from surgery and stroke recovery to orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, balance concerns and more. Early morning and late evening appointments also make it easier for patients to fit care into their schedules.

A $1 million gift from Dr. John R. Patrick and Mrs. Joanne Patrick will help strengthen nursing across Northwell Health’s hospitals in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley. 💙

The gift will support nursing education, leadership development and preparation for Magnet Recognition, the nation’s highest honor for nursing quality and patient care. Funding will help nurses pursue continuing education and specialty certifications, participate in hands-on training and lead projects that improve care for patients and families.

The Patricks’ support is deeply personal. Mrs. Patrick was a registered nurse, and their daughter, Tracy Savitz, DNP, has experience evaluating Magnet programs.

“Joanne and I have seen firsthand the impact nurses have on patients, families and communities,” Dr. Patrick says. “We’re proud to stand behind the nurses who care for patients and families across the region.”

Colon cancer screening is personal for Primo, a Northwell Health emergency department nurse. 💙

After losing his grandfather and seeing his aunt Tara, a fellow Northwell nurse, lose her husband and his uncle to the disease, Primo knew his family history couldn't be ignored.

After having unusual GI symptoms, Primo went to his doctor, who recommended a colonoscopy, even though he was just 20 years old.

During the colonoscopy, his gastroenterologist removed a large precancerous polyp.
