π₯ Heat exhaustion is no joke, especially in Louisiana summers.
If you have an older loved one, a child, or youβre working outdoors, please watch for these warning signs:
β
Heavy sweating
β
Weakness or fatigue
β
Dizziness or fainting
β
Headache
β
Nausea or vomiting
β
Muscle cramps
β
Cool, pale, clammy skin
β
Fast, weak pulse
What to do right away:
β’ Move to shade or A/C
β’ Loosen clothing
β’ Sip water or an electrolyte drink (small sips if nauseated)
β’ Cool the body with a cool cloth or a fan
How to avoid dehydration (simple tips that help):
π§ Drink water before you feel thirsty
π§ Add electrolytes if youβre sweating a lot
π§ Limit alcohol and too much caffeine in extreme heat
π§ Check urine color: pale yellow is the goal
π¨ Call 911 if thereβs confusion, passing out, seizure, chest pain, or symptoms donβt improve quickly. Heat stroke is an emergency.
If youβre caring for someone with chronic illness, dehydration can spiral fast. If you want help creating a simple hydration and heat-safety plan, message me.
